Congratulations BB/BS & All Who Participated!
Submitted by JstPlnOnry on Sun, 05/11/2008 - 11:58pm.This is fantastic news! I wish we could have bowled in it too. Unfortunately, McKenna's been in & out & in & out of the hospital since last November. (Our 16 yr. old with Cystic Fibrosis) They released her yesterday (Saturday) from the hospital up in Seattle and she did great until about 6:30 this evening (Sunday/Mother’s Day) when she collapsed and had a seizure at Walmart. She was in full rigor mortis, stiff as a board, turned bright red then pale white, almost yellow, then blue and seized for about 2 minutes. They took her by ambulance to the local hospital and did a CAT Scan on her which came back normal, as did her labs. They don’t think it had anything to do with any of her Cystic Fibrosis meds either. We brought her home on anti-seizure meds and her Pulmonologist is going to try and get her into a neurologist tomorrow for a full checkup and an EEG of her brainwaves…
This was the first seizure she’s ever had and was not only traumatic for her but her sister Kelly, Mike and I as well. I thought she was dying before my very eyes. Our middle daughter Kelly called 911 while Mike and I were trying to comfort McKenna. The Lacey paramedics were there before we knew it, less than 2 minutes after Kelly called. They started her on an IV in case she seized again, they could give her meds for it during the ambulance ride. Once she got to the hospital, she was coming back around OK and able to identify where she was and who she was. They said she’d be pretty groggy for a while too. The Ativan they gave her, the anti seizure meds, helped relax her and made her tired. She was afraid to go to sleep in case she has another seizure. She's going to sleep with me tonight and dad will sleep on the aerobed next to us.
Children are precious, hug them a lot and never fail to tell them how much you love them! Today we went from having a glorious day at church, a great lunch and within an hour of lunch she had her seizure and was unable to breath. I'm just grateful she came out of it OK. She kept apologizing for ruining Mothers Day... I kept telling her I got the best give I could have ever hoped for, she's alive.
XO!
Jules
Hugs from me

You are truly a saint.
