Peter Pan was fabulous!
Submitted by hrstruggle on Mon, 11/06/2006 - 10:08am.It was really long (almost 2 hours) and my 4-year old girl was engrossed! I had to narrate the entire film (I heard a cacaphony of others narrating to their kids, so I didn't feel like I was bothering others) which didn't seem too bad considering you kinda needed to understand things, I wanted her to understand things. She was familiar with the Peter Pan story, so was able to follow along better.
The point in the film where Tinker Bell is dying from drinking poison was really amazing - Peter Pan turns to the audience and implores them that the only way to save Tinker Bell is for all the children of the world reinstate their belief in fairies and to applaud. The theatre of course erupted into shouts and applause including myself and Zoe! What a wonderful experience!
Weird/funny things: person in dogsuit playing Nana (who ever heard of the dog giving the kids a bath??); sexual tension between Wendy and Peter, especially since they were both women (woman played Peter, short-hair, made to look like a young boy); dude in crocodile suit; Captain Hook; final title screen about children being innocent and heartless????
