So I received an anonymous (not Larry) message asking that I push our meeting venue to another location sans alcohol and/or tobacco. Being that the broho is a sacred place I don't think we could permanently cut it out of the schedule, but I mentioned that we did coffee gatherings at one point, but their popularity has waned as of late.

So, with all of this in mind: Less alcohol, less smoke, maybe letting folks younger than 21 around (do we have these) possibly venues that allow children, maybe something we could do during the daytime vs evening. Feel free to add your own ideas as well

Does anyone have any ideas for future gatherings that might fall into these categories? Any input is appreciated.

Since almost every day is an Olyblogger day at the Broho

it seems fair and good to seek an alternative venue. There's been a lot of talk about sushi lately. Perhaps we could stake out a big table somewhere. It's still warm enough to gather at Priest Point or Burfoot or anywhere else for that matter. While I'm not crazy at all about the food, the deck outside the Oysterhouse is quite pleasant this time of year (and it's smoke free and kid friendly). Perhaps we can offer up our own porches and lawn chairs on a rotating basis (but I'd need to make a few dump runs before mine is avaialble).

Yes, I want some good eel.

Yes, I want some good eel. Downtown Koibito would be choice 1, Fuji would be 2. Open to other ideas, but would rather not spend money in Lacey.

I'm not opposed to staying

I'm not opposed to staying out of Lacey unless it's a very inviting option.

Yes! Somewhere where I

Yes! Somewhere where I don't feel my lungs turning black with every breath! Just kidding...but I too would like a quieter place every now and then. And maybe a place that has food.

Thanks for the input you

Thanks for the input you two, keep em coming. This doesn't have to be from people who have previously attended. It can be from any blogger who thinks they might show up. Places, days, times, any input is appreciated. I think most folks who have attended these functions have to admit they are pretty fun. Definitely a new side to your fellow bloggers.

I'm no longer Anonymous, Norm

I just can't figure out how to change my name.

If someone organized a potluck...

... I would come, and I would bring something delicious.

Poltucks are good...and easy on the wallet

I've been with a small group that has gone to dinner at Trinacria every other week (good God, for the last seven years). Perhpas folks would be up for somethng similar, but on a once-a-month or once a quarter basis. It's particularly fun if you get the back room. Just sayin'. It IS temptingly close to the Broho though.

The Sushi House on the Westside is...

... the best sushi in town, by far! But sushi is never easy on the wallet. Sorry I missed the Bro Ho meet last week. I'd like to come to the next one. Potlucks are always groovy but can be a little intimidating for 1st timers. What about Le Voyeur or Plenty for a place that is both drink and family friendly?

what ever happened to the coffee group?

I know we met once over at Borders (sans wifi dag-numit). What ever happened to that fun? I'd prefer coffee over all other options.

Lack of interest. Of the 3 I

Lack of interest. Of the 3 I put together, one of them had 4 of us show up, and was a good lil get together. The other 2 consisted of Merwyn and I bs'ing over coffee.

Don't know if I'd go...

...but I'd be a lot more likely to if it were at a local coffee shop. I don't know if it still works this way, but when I worked for Mud Bay Coffee they had a back room you could call ahead and reserve for free. They have wifi too. I'd prefer Oly Coffee Roasting, but alas, their shops are very small...

I could possibly host

 "Picnic in The Country" Potluck

Either a Saturday or Sunday later this month (Saturday 9/22 might be perfect)

Scott Lake Park.  BOYBBB (bring your own booze, boat and bassomatic)

Takers?

Not a bad idea, anyone else?

Can we swim there? I would

Can we swim there? I would like that.
»

Absolutely

Weather permitting, there is a great swimming dock and a boat launch (Blue....don't you have a boat???) I have two pontoon fly fishing boats for people to play with.

Covered cook shack, lots of picnic tables, bring a few lawn chairs and the party is on.

I can get down there early to reserve the best spot.  If anyone wants to come in early, a round of golf (about two hours) could be shot, also.

Maybe we should decide on

Maybe we should decide on someone to coordinate these get-togethers, maybe one of the docents? It seems to get talked about and ideas thrown around but most of the time they don't seem to catch.

Well...part of my job is event planning....

So I nominate Norm to do it.

I appreciate the thought....

but it's not my cup o' tea. I'm thinking someone with a little fresher spirit toward the idea.

I like the Mud Bay thought, also

...what about another place downtown that has alcohol but no smoke but yes eats? Hannah's comes to mind.
»

I think we should do them all

How about a potluck at Larry's in September, while we still, perhaps, have nice weather, then some smokeless food and drink at Hannah's in October, when it's getting colder, and coffee at Mud Bay in November when it's dark at 4:30 and we all need some help staying awake? Wednesdays and Saturdays work best for me. Especially for the potluck, a Saturday would be nice. It's a great time of year to make yummy stuff from local produce. I'm thinking nectarine pie....
»

Larry's it is.

I'll bring my two and nine irons and a putter. It's all I really need.
»

OK....I'll coordinate September 22

Names that start with X bring filet mignon.  Everyone else bring a salad, dessert, favorite casserole (lets try to avoid burning meat if we can, if not, I'll provided the BBQ and briquets).

Gug has to bring a well stocked bar to fit the tastes of the entire party, along with appropriately dressed wait staff that will suit the tastes of both sexes and interests.  Make mine an Erdinger NA, please.
