I don't want to post it here, so I'll link to it instead. I'm not sure how LTE work as far as permissions etc.

His story made me a little angry. You would think that if Evergreen students are so free-thinking, college students, being in school to learn about the world and things that they may not agree with, that they could handle a little bit of opposing view. Hopefully this is a single student, or a small group that feel the need to squash this man's ability to share his thoughts.

EDIT: I didn't mean to be quite that snarky.

Very difficult to say if the person or persons

who tore down the fliers represent free-thinking Evergreen students any more than the puppy-tossing marine represents our armed forces. But I can certainly see why it would make you angry. It certainly bothers me.

You're right.

I worded that badly, I think I'm gonna go fix it.

Now that's different

It is dissapointing, yes.

Eight of nine flyers

Could easily be removed by one person.  I'm with Gug.  The actions of a few don't represent the masses.

Which is why there is an edit now. *poke* *poke* *poke*

Oops...

I guess I'm with Norm, too

Tearing down flyers is pretty common

On certain controversial topics, flyers stay up for about 10 minutes. Personally, I (and others) have put up posters pertaining to issues of reproductive freedom which haven't lasted long at all. It's certainly not just Evergreen students who resort to dirty tactics.

Not Surprised at All

I was a student for two years and an employee for nearly 10 years at a local college. I’m not surprised by Mr. Luxmore’s experience. Not at all. If Mr. Luxmore had stated that he observed faculty members tearing down his flyers, I still would not be surprised.

For several years I was the advisor to the Conservative Student Union at South Puget Sound Community College. We ran into this behavior all the time. For some events we had to replace flyers on a daily basis. Flyers posted by other student clubs for more "accepted" events tended to remain up for quite some time.

It's damn tough being part of the minority, huh, Jeff?

If Mr. Luxmore

had stated that facutly members were killing puppies, I wouldn't be surprised either.

Someone should really do a blog about flyer...

...edicate.

Every other band is always coming along and taking down your flyers and replacing them with their flyers.

digital signage...

...saves paper & reduces pollution, esp. if the sign is solar DC and a green panel.

>justa thought<

Flyers are a great form of expression, but the media is lacking and looks trashy.

...digital signage is "where it is at" as well as RSS to get the "word out".
