On my walk down into town, I came across something that fully expresses Olympia in all her many guises to me. I truly needed a trumpet to blow and a town crier to declare "This is Olympia.".
» This something was found after a lovely walk crunching through all manner of autumn leaves. I was drenched in color, having walked through and under and past gorgeous trees. My walk couldn't get any better but it did, someone, some intrepid Olympian had selected a huge bright yellow maple leaf with just a trace of lace fraying and had then duct taped it by the stem to a sign post. Right about at eye level. You know, I have all sorts of other things to add to my description of my Oly Sunday: the woman who told me "Thank God for alcohol.", the man who showed me the stitches holding one of his fingers on, that other man who spoke to me passionately about the need for humanity to be honest with one another, the sound of the military shouts at the men doing timed runs down by Heritage Park, that baby that stared at me and cooed, or the fact that I now really need a nap. But what can be said after finding a yellow maple leaf duct taped to a post?

After achieving the status of being the largest neo-Nazi group in the United States in June 2006, tensions and bickering within the National Socialist Movement (NSM) led to a number of key members either resigning or being expelled from the group the following month.Report from Anti-Defamation League

I must say the 21st century has been a bit of a bummer so far. I really hate it when the corners of that little box they put in my head start to poke whenever have to, well, move.

My title is sarcastic. Just thought I would post this, since most initiatives/candidates that raise a few bucks are labeled as being backed by "special interests" because they run a good fundraising campaign. The Olympian: Opponents nearly triple I-933 backers' funds: Opponents of Initiative 933 are about to top $3 million for their campaign, nearly three times as much as the $1.03 million flowing into the coffers of the pro-initiative camp, according to state Public Disclosure Commission records.
