![]() Time to break out the cleaning products and get to work, the Nazi Smear Campaign against Olympia is in progress. How to deal with a smear?

I think Olycop's suggestion that we stay in touch with the OLY PD on a regular basis with both complaints and praise is exactly right.
» So, here's the City of Oly Compliments and Complaints webpage. You can also email the city manager Steve Hall at cityhall@ci.olympia.wa.us Use "Attn: Steve Hall. Comment on Employee Service" in the subject line and your email is supposed to go right to him. Here's a link to the City's basic complaint form. There are some additional serious complaint forms on the compliments and complaints webpage. I encourage Sarah and Drew to email Mr. Hall. If they are willing, and want us to provide support, maybe a few of us would follow their email with email letters of support for police like Heinz and request that Dahl lose the gun, be given a small net and put on caiman patrol.

Write a sentence, only one, using the most links possible within the sentence. Oh and the theme has to be something to do with Olympia, our community and area.
» Each link must work properly. And the sentence must be one recognized by most readers as a reasonable example of a sentence. On your mark, get set, go! We each get one sentence, done sometime in the next few days, and then we have to co-judge the results.

The poll is still open and votes continue to trickle in. A new blogger voted for SS Mann Mark Martin today.

![]() NSM: We all agree (at least you and I) that the standardized education is not perfect. We all can agree that History is missing some facts, that biology is one-sided towards the theory of evolution, and that the USA is NOT a melting pot where we all melt into one mixed-race with one culture. Truthfully, History ignores the Celtic Culture, biology misses the similarities between trees and bones in favor of the similarities between monkeys and humans, and the USA is actually more of a "QUILT" ---where each unique cultures is represented but not melted together. NSM: I'm not trying to convince you to change your views, I am simply trying to improve your opinion of the "pro-diveristy-crowd" so that you can fine-tune your speeches before the big day. Diversity is not a melting pot. Diversity is not erasing your particular race at all. In fact, the continued existence of your race depends on the existence of diversity. That might sound a little far-fetched to you, but consider the life-patterns on the Great Barrier Reef: the part of the reef thats in calm water has no life on it at all because in calm water there was no challenge to breeding so all the life-forms reproduced non-stop until there was too much life for the given amount of space and food, and so everything died-out and now there is no life there at all. On the part of the reef thats in rough water, waves do not allow unlimited reproduction. There is a constant challenge to each specie's reproduction and thus the life only reproduces at a rate that is supportable by the amount of space and food and thus each species is preserved and thus we have a colorful reef in the rough seas. No one color is eliminated, but on the calm part, all of the colors were eliminated.

I've discovered I really like that new song, "Had a bad day" I even bought it on itunes. Not my song style for the most part but I have had the weirdest month now that I'm not exactly sure what to do with myself. Have you ever had one of those days...or months...where no matter what you did everything just seemed like it wasn't cruising right? Like you knew something was wrong with your car but couldn't put your finger on it, but knew you had to make it to spokane regardless? I can handle feeling like that about my car because it's normally something I can control, and fix easily. I hate feeling that way about myself because my ability to self diagnose is poor, my ability to self fix is even worse. For the most part I tend to supress and/or ignore it. Put a smile on my face and pretend like it's not important enough to affect me. For smaller things this works great, because forcing myself to be happy usually makes me pretty happy in the end and facing my problems becomes easier. It finally hit the fan last night when I broke up with my girlfriend. It had already been a bad f'ing day but I found myself a little relieved after breaking up. I started realizing almost a month ago that I was feeling suffocated ( sp? ) and couldn't figure out why. I don't feel like I should be blaming this all on her but my sense of relief afterward seems huge. Of course saying that makes me feel like an even bigger ass than I already feel. I always forget how bad it feels to tell someone that you aren't sure you should be together any longer. Even thinking about it right now makes me feel just icky inside. Anyway, I just needed to vent and read what I was actually thinking because I don't always fully express myself when I talk to myself out loud ( I feel a little crazy doing it ) thanks for listening ( if you are reading ) and don't think of me as too crazy.

"What changed in the US with Hurricane Katrina was a feeling that we have entered a period of consequences..." Al Gore I was really blown away by Al Gore's movie An Inconvenient Truth and we have had some discussion about it here on Olyblog. I know that Al and his concerns won't really be seen as all that local until the ocean levels start rising and Heritage Park becomes Olybog, but I have to blog this thing. All politics is local, right? The Draft Gore 08 project is underway. I will probably be joining as a member pretty soon, and may volunteer to help here in this Congressional District. I was early with the Dean campaign in Lewis County in 2002-2003, so I guess I am early with Gore this time around. ![]() "It is difficult to get a man to understand something if his salary depends upon him not understanding it." As OlyBlog approaches its first blogiversary (that's like 11 in blog years), I'm wondering how people would like to celebrate the occassion. Should we get together on a Sunday at the park? Should we have an extra big Monday night at the BroHo? Should we have a nazi cross-dressing fashion show? I'd like to also take this opportunity to say how inspiring it is to read all the conversations happening on the blog, and to see the respectful, yet engaging, manner in which folks are communicating. It is really something special. Just to update y'all on the kind of traffic we're getting these days:

It was hopping yesterday. Perhaps because of the July weekend. I needed a few things, and was nearby at about 12 but it was so crazy -- I couldn't even get parking in the overflow. I decided to wait and come back after the lunch crowd. That was a good idea. It was calmer later, and people were happy. A nice little jazz band finished up their last song. The farmer's market entertainment is always really fun! Upcoming Schedule.
