Carrie Lybecker of Planned Parenthood put together this list of stores that carry Plan B as of August 14, 2006. Although my hope is that more stores will stock it when it becomes over the counter (which will not occur until the FDA approves a new package insert), it is still not so easy to obtain. Also, be aware that some stores which say they stock it, such as the Rite Aid on Sleater-Kinney and the Walgreens on Martin Way in Lacey, were out of stock recently when women tried to fill their prescriptions there. For a story about what can happen when prescriptions aren't filled in a timely manner, check out this story.

Join us for food drinks and an evening of history!  The Annual Patron's Ball to benefit Olympia's historic Bigelow House Museum is Thursday, September 28 at 5:30pm.

This year we will gather at the Washington State Governor's Mansion.  Keynote speaker is Shanna Stevenson, coordinator of the Washington State Historical Society's Women's History Consortium.  2010 marks the centennial of Washington granting voting rights to women.  Learn more about this program and the key role Daniel and Ann Elizabeth  Bigelow of Olympia played in this important cause. Guests include the Vancouver Heritage Ambassadors, historical reenactors who portray Nineteenth Century Pacific Northwest suffragettes.

Proceeds will help Bigelow House Preservation Association complete stabilization of Bigelow House through needed structural upgrades to the foundation and exterior features.

Space is limited, RSVPs must be returned by September 8.  To receive an invitation, contact Bigelow House Preservation Association:

I keep thinking about this statement Bill White made on his blog and I'm curious what folks think.
Demands to kill people are a normal part of political dialogue.
Read it in context here  (remember that this is a Nazi blog so usual cautions advised).

Beyond who wrote it and the specific context, does the statement ring true in your experience? I'm not up on the current state of political discourse, I don't watch much TV, I don't follow political blogs or journals.

After the FDA approved sales of Plan B without a prescription, Kevin Stormans, owner of Ralph's Thriftway, told the Olympian that Ralph's would be "revisiting" his store's emergency contraception policy.  Although women no longer need a doctor's prescription to obtain Plan B, it will still be sold only in pharmacies, so it is just as important as ever that pharmacies keep it in stock.  While Ralph's owner mulls over his policy, let's remind him how we feel about this issue.  Come join us on the picket line!
