The Olympic National Park has released, for public comment, its Draft General Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement (Draft GMP/EIS), the first management plan draft since 1976. The comment period has been extended to Sept. 30.

No matter the technical winner of our poll, I think of all the NSM who visited us, Justin Boyer was our favorite. Or he was at least a tie for top place with Jim Ramm.
» So I figure folks might be interested in the latest scoop. Justin Boyer is now in Ohio and he has been appointed the ANSWP (Bill White's new Nazi group) Ohio state leader pro tem.

Coyotes have been mentioned a few times recently in write ups about the west side raccoons. I've never seen a coyote in the area and assumed that they were rare to nonexistent, I assumed wrong.
» Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife has a news release from 2004 concerning a coyote attack on a dog at Watershed Park. Lots of good info in it. Including the fact that coyotes are found all over the state and in 2004 numbered over 50,000 state wide. WDFW also has an excellent page up all about coyotes and especially about the best ways for us to live with them. Anyone have any coyotes in Olympia stories? Coyote behavior is based on instinctual programming for survival that is centuries old. As intelligent beings, individual coyotes can learn new ways to obtain the food, water, and shelter they need to survive. But coyote needs aren't going to change.

The Port of Olympia has decided to build a 50 foot high, 300 feet long (basically a city block) concrete parking garage in the current Farmers Market free customer parking lot. [Parking in] The garage will not be free. It will be leased or pay as you go parking. Constructino is set to begin in January. The Market is against this garage for numerous reasons and we are seeking your support. If you hhave any questions, please contact the Market at 352-9096. Thank you. Please contact: Port Commissioners Bob VanSchoorl at 360-902-1099, Paul Telford at 360-866-8619, Steve Pottle at 360-701-9521. [Emphasis in original.]
» I try to keep up, but I admit I don't watch the Port as much as I should. I hadn't heard about this, but I'm disturbed that the Port would wipe out the Market's parking in such a way.

Ok, so it's been hot. On day's like these ice cube trays are a good thing, and lots of water, but what to eat? If you are like me I'm not really into cold food, salads, fruit and vegetables...I'm like a child I have to be forced into eating them. So I have a suggestion on hot days, that's easy and tastes good: Pudding.
» What you need is 1 blender, a few cups of milk, 1 package of jello instant vanilla pudding, a few spoons full of peanut butter. Load it all into the blender, blend er up, pour into a couple of containers and throw it in the fridge for a while. It's cool, it has protein and calories for when you really don't feel like eating, and it tastes awesome.

I've been saying from the beginning that if indeed these men are guilty, death should be their punishment. It looks like I'm not the only one. And for Americans who have been caught in Afghanistan (or as part of any terror plot)? Article II, Section 3, United States Constitution Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confression in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the life of the Person attainted. The Olympian: Soliders may face death penalty: An Army investigator has recommended that four soldiers accused of murder in a raid in Iraq should face the death penalty if convicted, according to a report obtained Saturday by The Associated Press.
