A continuing rally and containment action for the Port of Olympia is expected to resume on at 8 pm Thursday. Persons interested in assembling to express opposition to the use of the Olympia Port as a cog in US militarism are encouraged to gather near the Port in the area of State and Plum Street. An organizational meeting occurred earlier this evening at the Olympia Free School and there should be street medics, legal support, and copwatch in the area. A phone tree for support is set up with Laurain and a friend taking numbers, documenting a timeline, and rallying folks as rallying is needed. To become a part of the phone tree or to report items for the timeline, call 753-9771.

Tonight's plan of action at the Port Per decisions made at tonight's PMR meeting: At 8:00pm tonight we are gathering near the Port entrance at Market and Washington -- near the Batdorf and Bronson roasting place. Since the last convoy from last night's movement went through at around 3:00am, we can probably expect the same tonight. We need a large presence of people to serve in a wide variety of roles. Some people will be stepping in front of convoys with the intent of preventing future use in imperial wars and occupation. In addition to people who are ready and willing to take that kind of action, we need: Let's let them know we mean it when we say that the people of Olympia will no longer participate in the colossal crimes being committed in our name!

As some of you may have noticed, I posted a few pictures today. Doing so reminded me of Bubba. I'm not sure where Bubba went, but if he is reading this, he needs to know that he is missed. So please Bubba, come home. If you do, I promise you can call me a Liberal-neocon-hippy lovin-republican'ite, whenever you want!

From the DAN MailBag (which means I did not write this)...via a Louisiana political friend (a Democrat), attributed to the Manitoba Herald (a very underground newspaper)...
» * * * * * * * The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The actions of President Bush are prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O'Reilly. Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal-rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night. "I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. "The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry. He asked me if I could spare a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?" In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. "Not real effective," he said. "The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk." Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves. "A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. They did have a nice little Napa Valley cabernet, though."

Court Halts WA Morning-After Pill RulesThe Associated Press SEATTLE — A federal judge has suspended Washington's requirement that pharmacists sell "morning-after" birth control pills. The injunction says pharmacists can refuse to sell the morning-after pill, referring a customer instead to a nearby source. It's part of a lawsuit by two pharmacists and a drugstore owner, who claim in a lawsuit that the state's birth-control sales rules violated their civil rights. The morning-after pill, sold as "Plan B," can dramatically lower the risk of pregnancy if taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. Some critics consider the pill tantamount to abortion, although it has no effect on women who are pregnant. Be nice to each other!

Yet another example of common sense. Hat tip to Sayanything.com, Newsbuster.org "It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the “research” to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus. Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment." I am sure that John Coleman will never hear the end of this for not toeing the line. C.

I attended the kick off breakfast for Sam Reed's re-election for the position of Secretary of State for the State of Washington. Knowing Sam on a personal level, I take pride in supporting him. He was the lone Republican on my voting ballot in 2004. My real intent for this blog is to not raise the flag in honor of Sam, but to point out that St. Martins was full of people from BOTH sides of the isle. I came in thinking I'd be the token Democrat only to find that probably at least 40% of the audience were people that I know and share similar political views. It was a non-partisan event in the truest sense of the word. Mike McGavick, a fairly conservative Republican admitted that many of the hard Right were unhappy with the outcome of the Governor's race and felt that Sam's party affiliation should have swayed the results. It will be interesting to see if there is a GOP that will possibly surface for a primary run at Sam. Jeff Kingsbury made an inspirational introductory speech before Sam took the podium. Nothing more be said. I just wanted to share that in these times of the "great divide" there stands at least one man that is able to reach to both sides of the political spectrum and either reason or lay down the law, as needed. One of the speakers pointed out that during the arguments being presented by the Democrats and the Republicans during the Governor's race recounts, David Horsey, well known political cartoonist, was published depicting Sam as the teacher and the respective state political party chairs as the students, with the caption "This is "WASHINGTON". Note that there is no "D" and no "R" in the word "WASHINGTON". Thanks to Sam and his campaign for a great start to my day. |
