Recently State Senators Roach, Prentice, Rasmussen, Oemig, Clements, Rockefeller, Tom, Fairley, Hobbs, Shin, Swecker, Holmquist, Benton, Stevens, Parlette, Delvin and Kline sponsored Senate Bill 5714-2007-08 which would establish a pilot program offering $500,000 of State support for two school districts to implement Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin, I assume) language instruction at the Elementary School level. I admit that as a father I have a strong bias toward furthering bi- and multilingual education on the Public School level; however, I also believe that citizens concerned by Americans' history of isolationism and patriarchy should contact their local Senator and ask that s/he support this bill (Senator Karen Fraser for Olympia @ fraser.karen@leg.wa.gov). Local Blogging Community

I scan through 50 + local Oly blog feeds regularly with a public Bloglines aggregator account. I'm experimenting with organizing the various blogs into themes, this is a rough and ready effort since most blogs fit under several themes, but this organization is helpful anyway. (Eventually I think Bloglines is going to need to include some form of tagging system.)

If you don't yet see your own local blog included, please msg me through OlyBlog, add a comment here on this post, thanks!

Many Olybloggers also keep their own individual or collective blogs elsewhere, I'm definitely interested in adding those too. Make sure your blog has a rss feed and I can pull it into the public news reader for all to enjoy. Eventually I'll work up regular posts drawn from our diverse and inspiring local bloggers.

The song "Fashion" by David Bowie from 1980's "Scary Monsters". Great for all of you late '70s/early '80s music fans plus glam rock people.
