April Fool's Day is approaching and I've a challenge to issue to all OlyBloggers. Get inspired and write something amusing. You get extra points for making this something amusing local. Tell us about a thought you had while drinking coffee downtown. Describe an unusual lunch enjoyed at the mall. Write a comic rhapsody on your favorite local flora and fauna.

No cruel jokes or other abuse. Are we locals too wet to share laughter? Or can we "grow a sense of humor" as our own esteemed founder Rick encourages?

Anyone local who wants to answer this challenge on their blog other than here on OlyBlog, just let me know, msg me through OlyBlog. I'll try to keep track of who is writing what where and I'll weave things together on the big day itself.

This challenge starts now.

We are going to make a last push to get 8016 to the Senate floor for a vote. Please forward this email to kindred spirits.

Capitol Steps Looking North Toward Temple of JusticeMONDAY, MARCH 12TH, IS IMPEACHMENT DAY AT THE CAPITOL. PLAN TO VISIT MEMBERS OF THE SENATE, STAND VIGIL AROUND THE CHAMBER, TO BE SEEN EVERYWHERE.

People will be converging on the Capitol to meet with the Senators and to generally be a presence. We will begin to meet around 11 on the North side of the Capitol--top of the stairs. Vigil with signs--noon-1, so folks who work for the state can join in.
This may go on after that around the Capitol campus, if the spirit moves people. We need to be seen.

Others may wish to lobby Senators to support 8016.
Lobbying:

Please take as many of the following actions as you can:

1) Go to Olympia to make a constituent visit your local Senator. Leave a note or print this form letter below and leave it for ALL THE SENATORS in the inbox in their office. Please take responsibility for arranging carpools from all points. Plan to present a short and civil explanation about why you want your senator to support SJM 8016. KEEP TRACK OF WHO SAYS THEY WILL SUPPORT, AND LET LINDA BOYD KNOW.

2) Contact the Dem leadership and your Senator - go to http:// www1.leg.wa.gov/Senate to find your Senator. Below is a sample letter you can send.

"Dear Senator ,

The people of Washington State have a golden opportunity to make their voices heard in Washington DC. SJM 8016 petitions Congress to open serious investigations leading to possible impeachment for grave allegations of abuse of power and wrongdoing by President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Penguin beak salad is, needless to say, very crunchy.

And what, may you ask, happens to those penguins who now find themselves beakless as a result of giving up a part of their anatomy for your eating pleasure?

[At this point an OlyBlogger raises his/her hand and asks this question]: "What happens to those penguins who now find themselves beakless as a result of giving up a part of their anatomy for your eating pleasure?"

I'm glad you asked that. You find them employed as bowling pins at your local bowling alley. Since they can still waddle around, it makes the game a bit more challenging.

The End.

I purchased a pair of nylon exfoliating gloves from the beauty section at a drugstore. I slip the gloves on and wash all the produce by rubbing my hands over it. I wash it in a pan of water or under the faucet. The gloves are very effective especially for large items like potatoes.

One night I'll  make beef stew and the next night I'll put the remainder of the stew into a pie crust to make a beef pot pie. Sometimes if I make a large enough pot of beef stew I can make four pot pies out of it and then freeze them. Most people cut the beef for stew beef into large chunks.

I freeze all of my broth in ice cube trays. Once they are frozen, I store them in freezer bags or plastic containers. When I'm ready to use them, I just pull them out one or two cubes at a time depending on the recipe.

you can soak large amounts of beans at a time and freeze what you don't use, in portion sizes for later use. It saves me loads of time and takes care of a big, time consuming task all at once. It really makes it easier and faster to use dry beans in recipes because I have eliminated the soaking step bydoing it earlier.

I have really, really bad allergies - here is what I do to make a home smell good without perfume or home spray.

1 – 3 Cinnamon sticks
• Water in a small pan
Begin by boiling the water and cinnamon sticks on top of the stove. Then simmer for as long as you like. I leave mine on the stove and reuse for days by just adding more water as needed.

David BrameIn an earlier topic I mentioned domestic violence with regard to charges of excessive or inappropriate use of force by Tacoma PD at the Port and I think I have not been clear about how I think these things connect, herewith, the connection imho:

Norm wrote: I'm not sure what you are getting at with the DV. Do you assume that only people who are willing to commit DV are the people that say "They got what they deserve." ? What does DV really have to do with this conversation, it seems like you are pointing at EG as a present or future "wife-beater".

Question:  Do you assume that only people who are willing to commit DV are the people that say "They got what they deserve." ?

Answer:  No, I think that people who are willing to commit DV run the gamut, but I also believe that whether abusers say it or not, it is a commonly held idea among abusers that the victim "asked for it,"  "got what they deserved,"  "made me hit him/her."

Context:  The community who works to reduce domestic violence and sexual assault in this country (I number myself in that community) have generally agreed to confront these common justifications for abuse and to create an environment where an abuser would feel less comfortable ever saying anything like these justifications.  Ideally, without these dodges, the perpetrator of physical assault would have to own their behavior, realize that no matter how provoked they got, when they took it across the line to physicality, they committed a crime, they have done the wrong.  The responsibility and duty is to turn and walk away and not escalate any kind of domestic disagreement or couple's issue into an incident where an assault occurs.

Olympia, land of creamed scorn
where shoes are made of paper
but are hardly ever worn

The nights are filled with flapdoodle
The days with googer-goo
The hippers are all feudal
Pleasure bump grind & chew

Members have their meetings
Outers have them too
They say their morning greetings
And set fire to their shoes.
