If you haven't stopped by Dumpster Values and seen the postcard-art-your-secret community project going on, I would highly encourage you to change your formerly misguided ways. And while you're at it, create a postcard, divulge your secret.

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a grassroots collective in Olympia, while learning how to run a unique publication?
Here is you chance to get involved with a local independent publication in collaboration with Olympia Free School.
The Free School aims to provide classes, workshops, programs, and events committed to free, non-coercive, and non-hierarchical education. The Free School promotes a safe environment supportive of self-directed learning – for all ages. And Natural
Learning for the past 2 years has been our medium for informing the community about our classes and other educational alternatives.
Currently Natural Learning needs to fill three coordinator positions to make Free School’s catalog a continual dependable and resourceful publication of the community. Experience with non-profit groups in the areas of writing, fundraising, editing, advertising, or publishing are beneficial, however certainly not required. We are also willing to train the right candidates for these positions, for those with strong interest.

P.S. VOTE META FOR MAYOR!!!! The obstacle is the Path. --Zen proverb
Email to Brian Baird
Brian, how can citizens mobilize to start a citizen vote to stop the "war"(or whatever it is called officially) in Iraq, and change the US foreign policy? Please advise.
American citizens are stakeholders in this process (the US foreign policy & "war" in Iraq/Middle East), and our will is not being represented.
My goal is to create a public information directory that details the process of conducting a national vote on the Iraq issue, and then create a convocation on the whole of the US foreign policy.
So, how do citizens (like me) start a vote process like this?

From this article; by Wes Enzinna, (publish date April 2, 2007)
The Revolution Will be You-Tubed
With top-ranked titles like Dancing Hamster Man, The Shining: Trailer Mash Up and Monsters Are Waiting--Ha-Ha, you'd think YouTube is all spoofs and stupid pet tricks. But things can get serious fast at the video-sharing website. Consider Give Peace a Chance--Tacoma Police Riot, a raw and dramatic documentary of recent clashes between police and antiwar activists in Washington State. Viewed by more than 100,000 people to date, this and other protest videos from Tacoma are proof that YouTube is good for more than pranks and soft porn. Peace activists are leveraging the site to reach new audiences and counter bias of their actions in mainstream media. (. . . )
When I was a kid attending Roosevelt on the Eastside of Oly, there was a joke that was told and retold. All these years later the enigma of this exchange still haunts my mind:
Now, just exactly what does this mean? And please don't answer, "That's what!" In college I found myself wondering what Al Camus would've said about this.

Interesting article, can't say that I necessarily agree on all their points, but I must applaud their tone.
"A global and social transformation is taking place being manifested through the media, television, corporations, government agencies, the United Nations, and the educational system. The agents of change and the social engineers wish to purge our children's beliefs, value systems, their independence and individuality; their aim being to replace them with more global beliefs, universal values, and interdependence thus molding their fragile little minds, shifting them into group think. All the while with the state trying to undermine parental authority and influence, playing a greater role in a child's life and contributing to the further breakup of the family.
There is a battle on for our children's hearts and minds. With the educational system assuming direct control and responsibility for the development of children's attitudes and values, and through mental health screening, the government will be incorporating social and emotional development, a place where it does not seemingly belong. John Dewy, considered to be the father of progressive education said, “the society or groups is most important, and that independent individualists have a form of insanity.” Much of his teachings have become dominant in the American public school system..."Read More...
