x-posted from my personal site:
» So I’ve been riding my bike to work off and on, and I have this system worked out where I ride the bus partway, through the leg of the journey that is both hilly and squirrelly (including where I nearly got hit [by a semi!] last month). And if it’s really raining, and I can’t take riding my bike in the rain, I can actually ride the bus the whole way from work to home. It’s been good.

Fine people of Olympia and beyond: the time has come for OlyBlog to move to its new home on a server under the care of the kind and generous technicians at Zhonka! While Zhonka has offered to host OlyBlog free of charge (as a service to the community), I've suggested (and the docents agreed) that we should cover some of the costs associated with the transition. In particular, a consequence of the move is that we will need to do quite a lot of work redesigning the site. Such an investment will also result in more functionality and better reliability. If there was ever a time when your donation would really make a difference, it is now. Update: I've disabled the ability of users to create new accounts. We're getting about 20 spam accounts per day. (Luckily, the newer version of Drupal we'll be using has filters -- yeah!) If you don't have an account and you really want to post something, just send it here and we'll post it. We anticipate that the site will be taken off-line for a couple of days sometime next week for the move.

![]() If you happen to see a few coffee roasters out on the streets this weekend smile and say hi. Don't ask me how you'll know one when you see them but they'll be around as Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. & Roast Magazine are sponsoring the Northwest Roaster's Meet this weekend.

I've been blogging here on and off for a few months now. I no longer reside in the state capitol but I was very involved with the movement there for 7 years.
» I have a couple of suggestions to make Oly blog truly more democratic without feeling hi-jacked by folks. For one thing. Please put a box that is EASY to find for blogger LOGIN! input on the frontpage! Why hide the access to bloggers? This going through filters of editors to safeguard the inpoint is not working for me. Also I challenge folks to do a full background search on Jeff Brigham and his other buddy up in Tacoma. I can still see his face but I don't recall his name. These 2 folks are to be understood and analyzed. Did Jeff ever serve in the military? How long? which service and when/why did he leave. The same for the other guy... he is on tape somewhere. The reason I ask this is that the major news media always give him lip service but they need to know who these guys are and what their motives are. I also hope the transition to a new server goes well. Please make the frontpage more input info friendly to bloggers (easy to find blogger login box). Thank you for hearing me Oly-town. ~Taryn G. |
