Kurt Vonnegut died today at the age of 84.  Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

OK, if you're sick of trying to find a chair at Batdorf, drinking burnt coffee at *bucks, or having nowhere to go when Vita closes at 8... check out Artisan's on Capitol Way between Browsers and the Broho.
They serve Batdorf coffee (ristretto shot style), have artspace for local artists, bread from The Bread Peddler, amazing sandwiches, and are set up for live music/poetry performances... plus they have the fastest wifi in town. Really. They're good value for the money, AND they're open until 11 on Friday and Saturday nights.

They opened yesterday, and I stopped in for the first time today, and I'm basically interviewing the owner as I type...

I'm putting this out there to direct people this way - let's support local business!

Stop by and post up what you think.

I'm writing this as a little heads up to our community about what's going on in our little office on 4th.

We've a fresh batch of interns from Evergreen, all ready and willing to navigate the social services system with our guests.  The office has been brightening up with the combination of new faces and Spring weather, and things have been mellow.  We have a community bookshelf that is wanting for texts, so if you've got some good reads (not everyone wants to read romance novels), drop them by our office and know they'll be put to good use.

We're having an open-house weekend to coincide with ArtsWalk 07.  Friday the 27th from 4-8 and Saturday the 28th from 12-8 BRAC will be transformed into an art gallery with homeless-originated art and music displayed and heard.  On Sunday the 29th, from 10-4 we are inviting the community to help beautify our garden space: planting roses, making a vegetable garden in the back, adding trellises and fencing to let the community know we're proud and deserving of a space.  Bring yourself, bring your dog, bring clothes to get dirty in, bring questions/comments and be prepared to learn about exactly what is it BRAC does in the community.

If you ever want to volunteer, meet the crew, or just see what we do, our space is open to everyone.  We are open Monday-Friday from 9-11:45 am and Monday-Thursday 1-4:30 pm.  Our address is 1009 4th Avenue E.-located in the old Oly Yoga center between Quince and Eastside streets on 4th avenue.

Drop on by, ask for Liz, I'll give you a tour!

Hello Friends:

Thank you for your continued support of the Welfare Rights Organizing Coalition (WROC). I am writing to ask that you join us at today's volunteer meeting as a number of board members have agreed to attend and it is vital that we show them the strength of the membership at this time.

The meeting will be held at the WROC office in the First Christian Church, 701 NE Franklin, in downtown Olympia at 1:30. Thank you.

Vince

It's time for another women's potluck. Please feel free to forward
this announcement to others to help get the word out.

Women Organizing Against Sexism Potluck
Monday, April 16
6pm
225 Milroy NW, Olympia

Let's share food, stories, support and resources for those who
experience sexism in Olympia organizing. It has also been proposed to
discuss the possibility of organizing a Mother's Day action.

Please bring vegetarian food to share if you can and please make this
meeting open to everyone by keeping it fragrance-free. This is a
genderqueer and trans-inclusive event.

Children welcome and childcare provided.

I hope to see you there. Tell your friends!
