Hiya All-- Today I met Micheal Nutter(sp?) of the downtown Olympia jewelry store that bears his name (it is on Capital, near B&B). I was taking my helmet off when he confronted me and asked that I lock my bike to the bike stand...and he was mean about...snide & condescending... I had just stopped and was not eve intending to lock my bike up there... I have reached my patience limit when it comes to store-front owners thinking they can tell everyone how to act & what to do-- Without being civil, this guy expects others to act civil. I'm really mad:the thing that really set me off, is that when I informed him that I am gonna post on olyblog(about his rude behavior), he said he is on the site alot(meaning olyblog), and that he could care less...
I can't remember the exact words, but he meant that since the folks on olyblog are not his customers, he could care less... "no, really, I know that [the folks on olyblog] are not my customers" This guy is clueless, as if he could tell where his customers are from... Me?, I don't buy jewelry because most of it is not fair trade art, and I can make my own pieces if I want (liberal arts classes pay off!) Most jewelry is not art, just a $tatu$ $ymbol for lo$ers... So, I'm gonna make a point of talking to folks about this guy and raise awareness of how he treats folks in front of his store: I hate his "us vs them" mentality and his "class" identity...thinking that way is ignorant & just perpetuates stereotypes. Class is dead! Any thoughts?
