Has anyone else noticed a sharp decline in the number of homeless people hanging around downtown since Camp Quixote formed up and since the sidewalk ordinance went into play? (Of course, this has had no impact on the homeless traffic in the area of the Greyhound Station and the Intercity Transit station a few blocks away.)

Perhaps there's hope for the downtown area, after all.

I know it can be confusing and even upsetting to create a post or comment here on OlyBlog and then be denied publication right away. It can even feel as if you are being censored, personally.

OlyBlog recently went through a site upgrade and our spam filter is still learning. This is an automatic process, the filter is tripped by whatever, we docents are notified and once we can get to it, we approve or not.

The filter is "dumb" and is being improved with use. Sometimes that means there is a delay. We docents do the best we can but sometimes no one gets to a spam filter issue right away.

Feel free to contact any of we docents, any time.

Funny how this page comes up when ever an opposing opinion rears its ugly head. Access deniedYou are not authorized to access this page. This time it was in the Ralphs/Storman's debate over whether Plan B should be forced on a business by the government. One is only allowed so much debate and dissent from the liberal line before they are denied further comment.  http://olyblog.net/stormans-and-2-pharmacists-sue-over-wa-emergency-contraception-rules   Dissent it seems is not so tolerated after all. I think I will start posting this every time it happens just to keep track. C.

The Olympia Choral Society will be holding auditions on August 12th from 5pm till 7pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church. We are mainly looking for tenors and basses and at this time there are no plans to add any more sopranos and very few alto slots ~ however all serious singers are still encouraged to audition. If you have any questions please feel free to leave a comment or private message me! =)

Seattle PI: Storman's and 2 pharmacists sue over WA emergency contraception rules

"The plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed Wednesday are pharmacists Rhonda Mesler and Margo Thelen, and Stormans Inc., the owners of Ralph's Thriftway in Olympia . . ."

I think this is a waste of state resources, if you ask me. I think the boycott should be put into high gear!

Especially since they seem to have benefitted financially from the Safeway closing, according to this story:

Stormans ponders legal action over Plan B rule, Olympian

I'm following local, national and international stories on my radio show blog. You can listen to No Talking Heads on Sundays at 5pm on KAOS, 89.3 FM in Olympia.

Just finished reading the last installment of the Harry Potter story. Found it very interesting that it mirrored the state of the world we live in. No wonder this woman is raking in the dough writing this story. No I'm not giving the ending away here...that would just be "wrong". However, It inspired me to think of a story arc that could be spread out over several books as well. The premise would be technofile anarchists that are sick of the facists and the tyranny. So they decide to target the true evil doers and in order to save the world they create a robotic T-rex that has an outer layer of plasma skin (for all intents and purposes a programable perfect predatory dinasour). This dinasour is used as a way to begin to target the "evil doers". It assists in protests of the WTO on the protestors side and it also seeks out those that are the targeted "evil ones" to humiliate, chase and destroy their possessions...perhaps even take them out if they can't run fast enough from their homes in the night. Just something in the idea of the ultimate predator taking out the "predators" that seems poetically right. I'll let you know if I actually start writing this trilogy. ~Taryn G.
