Workshop: Join Together to get License for Full Power Activist Radio Station

Monday, August 20th, 7:00– 9:00 pm

Traditions Fair Trade Café, 300 Fifth Ave., SW, Olympia

We Need You!
Are you in an Activist Organization with social justice and democracy goals that would benefit from radio media exposure?

The Alliance is seeking organizational partners to attain FCC full-power radio license to serve Olympia area and to build station thereafter.

In October, the FCC will open a FULL POWER NON-COMMERCIAL/EDUCATIONAL FM radio station licensing window.

This 5-day window may not come again for decades. Act NOW. Join other activists in creating our own radio station.

About the Workshop
We will cover: Why this is a great idea; How process works and what it costs; How this creates opportunity to enhance success of our activism; How this is essential to community democracy; How this is a good alternative to corporate owned media that usually misrepresents our issues.

PRESENTED BY: The ALLIANCE FOR DEMOCRACY, South Sound Chapter and Bryan Johnson, former intern with Prometheus Radio Project.

I found this a while back while rummaging through photos on flickr. Based on information provided with the photo, I assume that this man who is gesturing is a supporter of Bush:

Can anyone say anti-social tendencies? Looks like trouble to me. Why is he behaving in such a vulgar manner, his man is in office, right?

VOTE YES PROP. 1

“SAFE KIDS, SAFE COMMUNITIES”

WHAT? On November 6th, 2007 voters will be asked to approve a three-tenths-of-one per cent increase in local sales tax to fund criminal justice and EARLY PREVENTION & INTERVENTION programs.

WHY? Because we can’t keep spending increased amounts of tax money (75% in 2007) on criminal justice. It costs $73 per day to be in jail. Costs rise every year. Jail incarceration rates have increased 300% in the last twenty years. It is time to break the cycle and reduce the numbers going into the criminal justice system.

This is our third year doing the Torchlight Parade, we tried to get in four years ago, but we could not, because there were people from Communist China who thought Falun Dafa was bad because of the evil propaganda and slander the Communist Party had been cooking up.

We were able to show them that Falun Dafa truly is good! The beauty of the practice is shown in this video.

There are several comments that are currently bouncing around in my mind, what comments are bouncing in yours?

I like this one and this one and my vote for best recent title is this one.

Plus I vote this evolving idea as a very fine idea indeed.

On the way into town today I asked my friend "What do you think - rainy or sunny today?". He answered "Yes.". And really, that says it all.

Also observed this morning in O-Town:

  • We heart Camp Quixote sign in the window of Five Corners
  • sticker art all over the place including one sticker series that seems to be of a bound cat woman, or bat girl, or whatever it is I like how the series is presented length wise
  • Hiroshima day origami crane and quote from St. Francis dancing in the breeze from a tree by the fountain
  • The sight of the Capitol Dome makes me think of the word "edifice" and now you will think of this word too
  • A community that has a free progressive paper like Works in Progress is a rich community indeed
  • walk lights changing in my favor just as I need them and bus drivers willing to wait a few extra seconds so I can hop on board make my morning smoother
