Chad Johnson is a riot.  He's also an ass.  Johnson, a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, is full of himself on a daily basis.  By chance, yes, the NFL schedule is all by chance outside of your own division, he'll be in Seattle this Sunday as the Bengals take on the Seattle Seahawks.

Johnson is known for his touchdown celebrations, among other not so interesting topics.  So much so the NFL has levied huge fines against him on several occasions.  He also brags about being a student at Oregon State University without attending classes.  He was at Oregon State University, but not as a student.  By his own admission he was there for football and football alone.

In pondering what he might do if he scores against the Seahawks, Johnson quips:

"You know what would be a good celebration?" he said. "To do something using the cheerleaders in Seattle, just walk up and kiss one. I can't get fined (by the NFL) for kissing."

No, but you can go to jail.  Hopefully the Seahawks can keep him out the end zone altogether.

As I was loading up my car this morning I left a green and grey backpack in the street in the block between WSECU and the downtown library. When I came back a few minutes later it was gone. I need the data on the computer that was in my backpack! If anyone finds it I'll pay them $100. Please call 267 334 6786 or reply here...thanks!

Last night about 10:30 pm a friend was walking along 4th downtown Oly near the fountain, headed towards the west side. A car load of guys drove past and yelled "Faggot!" loud and angry and aggressive at him. My friend knew at this point to be extra alert, especially since it then looked as if the car was going to double back to take another swing by him and possibly at him.

But, as my friend puts it, they got their karma. OPD stopped the car for some reason just a block or two away.

I remember hearing about a Q Patrol at some point downtown, does it still exist? I'm especially interested in helping with some sort of online incident reporting, this could even be done through OlyBlog if an active site doesn't already exist. Then we could compare notes and trends on any kind of public harassment in Olympia.

Okay, I'm back on vacation.

Interesting financial news today, the American dollar is exchanging evenly with the Canadian.

On the bright side, those Canadian coins I sometimes get in change are actually worth something. And trips to B.C. might be less confusing.

(I did some digging and it was 1976.)

There has been much discussion about confrontational styles of conversation on Olyblog and other media where we rely on the written word.  It is easy to misunderstand the intent of a statement when all you can see is the written word on a page or screen.

I encourage everyone to catch the press conference with President Bush from this morning to see real confrontation in action.  David Gregory asked him a simple question about his position on a bombing incident between Syria and Israel.  Bush's response?  "I'm not going to comment on that."  Gregory, being an excellent journalist, did a followup rephrase of the question.  Bush's response?  "I'm not going to comment on that."  When Gregory attempted a third rephrase, Bush got plain surly - "what don't you understand about me not commenting on that?"

President Bush, let me be the one to tell you that this is a press conference.  They ask questions, you answer them.  Your antagonistic attitude will get you nowhere.  You were exposed this morning for precisely what you are - a dictatorial person that either forgot the operations of our country or just someone that doesn't give a damn.

I'm embarrassed for him that he didn't have the sense to not display such a behavior on national TV.

November of 2008 can't come soon enough.
