Okay, I've been hanging out here long enough, been kicked off and let back on often enough, and had a wide enough range of conversations with different people, I wouldn't mind popping in at the BroHo and meeting some folks.... How often does this happen and when?

I've got some questions about OlyBlog:
How often do the "Docents" turn over? How are the Docents selected? I've been reading this thing for a while but I'm still a little unclear on what OlyBlog is and how it's run.
Also who is in charge of the technical aspects behind OlyBlog? I get an error every time I post or write a comment.
Lastly. Comments are screened before they are posted?? That seems pretty authoritarian to me. Why not just screen the comments for spam after the fact? I understand taking off comments that are straight up threats or hate, but other than that why are the editors of this website being censors? Is this a place for free speech and open discourse or does this site represent the view points of a minority of editors? I participate in a lot of social media sites, very few feel the need to moderate comments before they are posted. Even blogs that get hundreds of thousands of readers per day don't moderate before posting.

Senators Push for Guns in National Parks By MATTHEW DALY – 1 day ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly half the Senate is pushing the Bush administration to let gun owners carry handguns and other firearms into national parks and wildlife refuges. Forty-seven lawmakers have signed a letter asking Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne to lift Reagan-era restrictions that prevent citizens from carrying readily accessible firearms onto lands managed by the National Park Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Current regulations, developed in the early 1980s, "infringe on the rights of law-abiding gun owners who wish to transport and carry firearms on or across these lands," the senators wrote. The policies also differ from those of some other federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service. "These inconsistencies in firearms regulations for public lands are confusing, burdensome and unnecessary," said the letter, drafted by Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho. For the rest of the article, click here This didn't want to post last time, I'll try again I hike quite a bit during the summer, and always found this law to be a little silly. I can carry in the national forest, and just about every other hiking area in the state, but no national parks. I'm not a poacher, the gun I carry isn't really a hunting weapon. The parks claim you don't have to worry about animal attacks, but give out pamphlets on how to act when one happens. Of course there is a ranger nearby right...ha. I'm all for keeping poachers out, but let's let folks protect themselves in the park like they can everywhere else that you can hike in this state. Norm

» I have a real problem with dictators. They get under my skin. To support, or To resist? That's the divisive question. Has anyone else noticed that a human prior to birth is sentient? I guarantee that will never be on my menu. This doesn't have anything to do with the price of tea in Olympia, but once David Letterman had Stupid Human Tricks (as opposed to the popular Stupid Pet Tricks) and one of the funniest things I ever saw was two men flexing their pecs to the tune of Dueling Banjos. They were even in synch with the music!

Put down the coffee. You'll want to keep it out of your keyboard. Work-friendly (if they allow YouTube video) and funny! Bill is leaving in July to focus most of his time on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He'll still be on Microsoft's board but we won't have him around on a daily basis. Steve Ballmer will become the head of Microsoft. This video is a tribute from the world outside of Microsoft.

Is anyone coworking in Olympia? I see a lot of people typing away at their laptops in the coffee shops. I'm interesting in finding a shared office space with some other people. What do you think? Are you ready to stop working out of your house?
