The Defense starts for Briana Waters trial on Monday, February 25, at 9am. Federal Court House, 1717 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA.

The Defense for Briana Waters will start on February 26 and is expected to last a week. There is a little left on the cross examination of Agent Halla and then the prosecution will rest. Now we can hear Briana's Defense!

Court begins at 9am on Monday, February 26 at 1717 Pacific Ave, Tacoma, WA. There is housing available for people who come and need a place to stay. Now is the time to show our support.

This is a call to come support Briana Waters this week! This will be a critical week, and probably the last, and there needs to be as much support as possible in the court room. Please dress appropriate for the court. This is not the time for aesthetics, but looking as nice as you possibly can. Briana's life is on the line. Please come support and bear witness to this time.

Thanks,

Carlos is a member of Gold Star Families for Peace along with Cindy Sheehan. An interview with Carlos by Amy Goodman is located here: http://www.democracynow.org/2007/3/13/the_endless_war_memorial_father_of

David Rovics has been called the musical voice of the progressive movement in the US. Amy Goodman has called him “the musical version of Democracy Now! He has shared the stage regularly with leading intellectuals (Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn), activists (Medea Benjamin, Ralph Nader), politicians (Dennis Kucinich, George Galloway), musicians (Billy Bragg, the Indigo Girls), and celebrities (Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon). He has performed at dozens of massive rallies throughout North America and Europe and at thousands of conferences, college campuses and folk clubs throughout the world. Check out www.Davidrovics.com

It seems that, last Thursday afternoon, I experienced a minor stroke (TIA) while at work.  Either that episode or a subsequent TIA has limited the usage of my left hand.  I spent the weekend at St. Pete's.

Part of my rehab will be typing, but it is very difficult as I don't have sensation in my left hand, thus I miss a lot of keys and have to correct typos.  I'll try to communicate and use Olyblog as a therapeutic aid, but my posts will be short.

I was just reading Onry's blog on not shutting down posts.  I have to support her 100% on this.  Knowing right now how difficult it it for me to communicate my thoughts, the need to be brief and to the point could be miscontrued by some as being "vitolic", especially if there is some emotion on what is being said.

Please be patient with me as I work my way though this challenge.  Most of my cognative thinking is OK, but I do get a bit confused a times and might come out on blog sounding different than what I intend.

I'll stay in touch as I can.

So, I went and ordered a new rear sight for my Flattop AR and had to do a little bit of sighting in and put the rifle though it's paces. The following are pictures of myself and a friend doing this.

Given all of the argumentative topics, and topics about guns that seem....removed, I decided a thread talking about what I've been up to seemed appropriate. Hopefully some will enjoy this.

These are pictures of firearms. Don't look if you are offended by such.......you have been warned.

Paper-target Work

Different angle

My Friend, showing me how it's done

And then presenting some of the finer points of pistol marksmanship

Good times were had by all! Plus the new rear sight worked great.

Well, not really a "run-in" but contact I suppose.

So a couple of weekends ago I decide to drive down to my parents. It's an interesting little drive that includes I-5, hwy 8, 12, 101 and 6. I do it fairly often and actually enjoy the drive. This path requires me to drive through a handful of small towns, and a few of them have really great places to shop, so with this in mind, onto the story.

I'm driving on the highway, by one of these little towns, and pass a cop facing the other direction. Immediately I get this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I knew I had forgotten to renew my tabs, and this cop was going to be pulling me over. Sure enough, about 1/4 mile down the highway I see flashing lights and pull to the side.

First things first, I pull over and put the car in park....then I remember that my drivers side window doesn't work. Lovely, that should make things easier, right? Also keep in mind, I have a firearm on my person ( I frequently go target shooting when I'm at my parents ), but decide to keep that to myself unless it comes up.

The cop approaches the car, knocks on the window, and I open the door. He asks if my window is broken, and I say yes. He asks if I know why he's pulled me over. I tell him that I forgot to renew my tabs, and was waiting until I got paid to renew them. He asked for my drivers license and proof of insurance and then stops.....

"Do you have a gun in the car?" he asks me. Hmmm, clairvoyant cops, that's interesting. I let him know that I indeed had a gun in the car.

"Is it loaded?" he asks me, I replied, "Yes, it is."

Pakistan blocks YouTube for 'blasphemous' content: officials

ISLAMABAD (AFP) — Pakistan has ordered all Internet service providers to block the YouTube website for containing "blasphemous" content and material considered offensive to Islam, officials said Sunday.

An inter-ministerial committee has decided to block YouTube because it contained "blasphemous content, videos and documents," a government official told AFP.

"The site will remain blocked till further orders," he said.

Other officials said the site had been blocked because it contained controversial sketches of the Prophet Mohammed which were republished by Danish newspapers earlier this month.

One major service provider, Micronet, said in an email to subscribers that the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority had directed all ISPs to block access to YouTube "for containing blasphemous web content/movies."

"Meanwhile Internet users can write to YouTube.com to remove the objectionable web content/movies because this removal would enable the authorities to order un-blocking of this website," the email said.

At least 17 Danish newspapers republished the controversial drawing, vowing to defend freedom of expression a day after Danish police said they had foiled a plot to murder the cartoonist.

In the latest in a series of demonstrations over the cartoons in Pakistan, hundreds of hardline Islamists in the southern city of Karachi torched effigies of the Danish prime minister and the cartoonist on Sunday, witnesses said.

"Death to cartoonist," the demonstrators chanted before burning the effigies, as well as US and Danish flags, outside a mosque.

Supporters of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's small opposition party also staged a small protest in Karachi.
