Starting April 4, The Evergreen State College, in contract with Intercity Transit, will begin a pilot project to provide late-night transit between the campus and downtown.

The Nightline will run on Fridays and Saturdays between Midnight and 3AM; on Sundays between 9PM and Midnight. The service will serve along the existing Route 41, with an extension through downtown up to Puget Street, then looping back down State to the Olympia Transit Center.

The late-night Nightline will be open to the public, when they pay the regular fare. Students with Evergreen ID can ride for free. The service is provided by Intercity Transit through a contract with the College, which is financed through a student transit fee enhancement, approved by over 25% of the student body at Evergreen last spring.

Olympia is now accepting applications for entry level police officer.

Instead of sitting on the sidelines and complaining, (pun intended), become an officer, work your way through the ranks and change the way things are done.

Olympia jazz pianist Jack Perciful died last Thursday at the age of 82. He played (and was running mates) with the great and departed Red Kelly, bassist, one time OWL Party candidate for Governor of Washington State, and owner of Red Kelly's Bar in Tacoma (now closed). The two played together at Kelly’s Tumwater Conservatory of Music. Question for you old timers: Where was the Tumwater Conservatory of Music?

These are exciting times for OlyBlog. We've grown immensely and are a source for all sorts of amazing projects. The way I see it, nothing ever has to be everything for everyone. Expansion and evolution is a good thing.

If OlyBlog is a nest, I'm in the mood to shout out enthusiastically "Fly, chickies, fly!". I'm one of many OlyBloggers who have grown up here and who can see the benefits of redirection and expansion.

So I'm going to do a semi-rambling series of posts on this theme. How can you start your own blog? I'm going to focus on what is free and relatively easy to use.

What are you reading already online? Do you follow a favorite blogger's blog, do you read what friends write? As you do so, start paying attention to the blog platform.
