Also to celebrate Orion's birthday...

he arrived at school with a little dog who visited us overnight.

Meet Twink.

Her mom will be taking a week-long vacation, and we needed a trial run to check for compatibility. We all loved her. However, we agreed that she's smaller than what we'd be looking for in the long run.

I have house slippers bigger than her.

Had an interaction with OPD to check the serial number on a boomstick to make sure it wasn't stolen.  The responding officer (Duncan) was friendly and professional, and I figured it would only be fair to put up my two cents on RMC...  two good marks vs one bad one for him...

An online search revealed that Radiance sells Peace Keeper cosmetics. Healthy to use, cruelty free, and fair trade products.

I'm so sad that Whirligig closed. That was one of the most environmentally sound concepts for a store I've ever seen. And I'd just discovered the store!! Lovely gifts, too. I bought several hand-made plantable paper cards with flower seeds in them and now have no idea how to get more of the cards, which made wonderfully mailable gifts. Any ideas?

On Saturday, March 22, 2008, ConspiraZine presents Chris from No Where to Run Podcast talking about mind control technologies He'll also discuss how some satanists conjure up certain energies or Extremely Low Frequencies for the purpose of creating dark occult portals to transport the "old ones" or demonic entities. Also feaured is Vyzygoth from the Grassy Knoll interviewing Dr. David Kennedy, a dentist, who reveals the dangers of mercury and flouride poisoning. ConspiraZine is heard on Free Radio Olympia at 98.5 FM or via mp3 stream at www. frolympia. org. ConspiraZine - more conspiracy, less theory!

The City Urban Forestry Department has checked to see if any City department had directed the tree to be cut down and found that the homeowner at 339 Milroy who had told us that the City had condemned the tree was not telling the truth. And Sunrise Tree Service who told us they were working for the City was not in fact working for the City. Is this a scam on the part of sunrise tree service?

An article was posted on OlyBlog earlier today that contained some questionable information. Another OlyBlogger, Ehver Green did some fact checking on it and turned over the original misstatements from the article.

The original article was about a giant tree on Milroy that was recently cut down. The article stated that The City of Olympia cut the tree down, and the author was rightly concerned about it. The following letter is a response from the city's Urban Forestry department regarding the tree on Milroy.

Zach,

Thanks for your e-mail. I wanted to fully investigate the situation before I got back with you. As I mentioned in my previous e-mail, the City did not require this tree to be removed nor was it removed on behalf of the City. As a tree advocate, I greatly appreciate the fact that the residents of Olympia care enough about their trees to voice concern over the loss of a prominent tree. It appears that the tree was on private property and was not a violation of our tree ordinance (OMC 16.60).

Please feel free to post this information to Olyblog.

Sincerely,
Joe

Friday morning, garbage day. I had ONE bag in the bin.
I’m reminded of all the other quirky 2nd lives of the wrappers and containers and packages that flow through our existence.

Plastic Grocery bags:

I tie the bag in a knot and put it in another bag.

When it’s full, Trish writes a note: “no more bags, return”. Then we have to look for the barrel for used bags at the store.
During the week we might use a bag or two as a garbage bag in the office or bathroom. We also use the paper bags we get from the coop as garbage bags and hold-the-recycling bags in the kitchen. Think about it. Should I buy a box of white plastic Glad garbage bags? It does come in a non-corrugated box that I can recycle, but it doesn’t bio-degrade and allow the other non-biodegradable items to co-mingle in the dump. Trish did buy some eco-friendly white bags, so we have back-up bags for when the garbage is accumulating faster than we can shop.
