Hannah over at Greener Living reports:

Evan and I started to walk down around 3, got there at about 3:30 thanks to Evan's crazy fast walking pace, got some sorbet because it was weirdly hot/cold outside. The parade didn't start until 4:30 and it took just under an hour to reach us at the end of its route. The cool thing was, however, that people came down the street with wheel-barrows full of free sidewalk chalk. How cool is that?

While Joshua over at For all the people writes:

I wasn't able to be at arts walk when it officially started, but I was able to peep some pre-browsing/walking/chatting/hanging/catchinguping with several friends. I love how olympia just brings people together. I see someone I know almost everytime I am downtown.

Give your reports below, but don't forget to show Hannah and Joshua some comment love as well.

DSHS employees raised $13,425 and the Financial employees raised $8,600.

Hey, Buddies ! What are you all doing on Saturday ?
Well, I know what I hope to do (God Willing !)
1- April 26th - Procession of the Species and then, 2- musical fund-raiser to benefit Handicapped Palestinian Children - Rachel Corrie Center in Rafah, Palestine. (Details below.)

1- Procession of the Species - 45,000 people show up from around for this event - so, pack a picnic basket and be there early. http://www.procession.org/
The Procession of the Species is a joyous, spontaneous artistic pageant where community members celebrate their relationships with each other and with the natural world. It was started in 1995 by a group of Olympia residents to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Earth Day and to support Congressional renewal of the Endangered Species Act.
NOTE - No signs, no written word, no spoken word, only actions, music, animal stuff.
Be sure to bring your camera and lots of tape.

Snapped some shots yesterday. Not unlike these:

Also, some of my more polished pics are on display at the Christian Science Reading Room near the corner of 4th and Washington. Come have a look and say hello, if you're downtown before the procession.

How well do you know Olympia? Here's the game: Each Saturday I post a picture from somewhere around Olympia and people try to figure out its location. The first person who gets it correct gets to be the first person who correctly got the location *yay!*.
