I went to the Thurston County Democrats meeting earlier tonight, and Sandra Romero was nominated by the precinct committee officers in commission district two, beating out former Lacey City Councilmember John Halvorson 77 to 63. This "nomination" business is fall out from the Top Two primary decision. I've been complaining about it all week: What's likely going to happen tonight (Thurston County Dems nominating mess/sham) What we should have done (sham nominating conventions) "Nominating conventions" are baloney, B.S., horse puckey Comments closed here, go over here to talk.

I also have some pictures from The Procession of the Species and Arts Walk! And I want to share them. I'll start with three mouseovers, then I will include some regular pictures and an embedded flickr slideshow.

This question was asked on another thread, and I felt it needed to be asked in it's own space.

Feds to enlist boaters in anti-terror effortsEILEEN SULLIVANand SCOTT LINDLAW The Associated Press WASHINGTON - As boating season approaches, the Bush administration wants to enlist the country's 80 million recreational boaters to help reduce the chances that a small boat could deliver a nuclear or radiological bomb somewhere along the country's 95,000 miles of coastline and inland waterways. The article goes on to talk about how horrible it is that so many citizens are out boating, or even taking pictures of dams. Don't think I'll be spending too much time online now, it's time to load up the mosin nagant, get out the squid sticker and strap on the .357 and go looking for evildoers and people taking pictures of stuff. Remember Comrades! The safety of the Homeland depends on YOU ratting out people who you think are dangerous. This is just another step down the slippery slope to monitoring everyone as much as possible. Can't even get away on your boat without being spied upon.

Apr 29 2008 - 6:30pm Apr 29 2008 - 8:30pm Internationally known parent educator Jean Illsley Clarke will give a free presentation at South Puget Sound Community College’s Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts on April 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m In "Connection or Control? Discipline with Time-In,” Illsley Clarke will discuss her theory of how children learn better with connection than they do with coercion. Also, she will explain how “time-in” offers four ways to discipline with connection and gives parents options when “time-out” does not work. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a donation for the YWCA’s Other Bank. Recommended items include toiletries, cleaning products and paper goods. The donation collection is sponsored by the college’s Teachers of Tomorrow club. Free parking is available in Lot A. For free childcare during the lecture, call 360-596-5293 The event is part of the Parenting Tools Lecture Series and is presented by the college’s Parent Education Program, the Washington State Department of Early Learning, Family Support and Education Services, Parent Map, Hands On Children’s Museum, YMCA, Sound to Harbor HS/ECEAP, ESD 113, Thurston Community network and Parents as Teachers. Where do you go for live music and who plays there? Inquiring minds want to know. I'm thinking of the noise ordinance a bit here. Also, I'd like to know what you usually spend when you go to see live music. You know, cover, beer, coffee, food etc. Who do you go hear, where do you hear 'em & whaddya spend? |
