Warning: If you are offended by me warning folks that content may not be suitable for all then please accept my apology.

Warning: Before you read any further, I want to let you know that I might type about eating animal products. If this offends then I apologize.

My current favorite food is the egg. I love the crap out of eggs. I love cooking eggs, too. They’re kind of magical. They can become so many things. Sure you can just fry ‘em. Or you can make ‘em into omelets. Cream cheese and steamed broccoli omelets. Sun-dried tomato and basil, garlic omelets. The list is endless.

Lately, I’ve been into making quiches. It’s pretty easy and it’s a tasty breakfast. I usually make mine at night and pop it in the fridge for tomorrow. Wanna try? Here’s how I do it.

The city has identified a temporary fix for the washed out section of the trail, and expect to reopen it in mid June.

Terra Commons will be hosting an Edible Forest Garden Work Party on Saturday May 31st, and Sunday June 1st to establish a demonstration forest garden at Circle Hawk Farm in South East Olympia 9404 Crete St. SE.

During this work party we will be doing hands on learning by sheet mulching lawn and planting an Edible Forest Garden.
Edible Forest Gardens consist of three main layers, with fruit and nut trees as the upper canopy, berries and other edible bushes as the middle layer and perennial vegetables and fruits as the ground cover.
The work party includes:
~Design and layout of trees and shrubs
~Planting trees and shrubs
~Sheet Mulching lawn
~Mushroom Inoculation

We will be there from 10am until 6pm both days with potluck lunches. Feel free to come for both full days, half days or just stop by when you can.
Please Park on the paved part of Crete Street, then walk in. Circle Hawk Farm is the first driveway to the left, come back and you will see us behind the barn.

Menu for the Future, NWEI's newest course launched in April, 2008, is a six-session course exploring the connection between food and sustainability.

"Food is our common ground, our universal experience." - James Beard

May 29 - July 3 Thursdays 7:00 PM on the west side - contact Cy Englert to sign up 360-402-0451 cyenglert@gmail.com

And on June 28-29 we will help Cy Englert turn his lawn into an Edible Forest Garden with Terra Commons www.terracommons.us. We can grow much of our food organically in our own yards for a more sustainable future for us and all on Earth - with fruit and nut trees, berry bushes and perennial vegetables.

Today I was mocked in person (and in public! gasp!) by one of our own- Chad360. The impetus for the mockery? A mere mid-level fervor regarding the processes and preferred practices for building fences. I would like to get the community's take on good fences for keeping in children with out spending all the grocery money on it. And if you see Chad, make fun of his incessant searching for bicycles online in the middle of the day. Thank you.
