I think this article in the NYT has lessons for towns like Shelton that are creating a hostile environment for undocumented immigrants.

Saw that on TV

Henry Ford, although a tough old bird, was smart enough to know - "I want my workers to be able to afford my cars".
Lack of people makes for lack of economy.
