So, this past month I have had more than one incredibly negative encounter with the man, and from what I have heard, so have many other people in downtown. In fact, if you find yourself in a crowded area in downtown and even utter his name, a chorus of disdain, anger, and out-right hatred will echo you from anyone in your immediate vicinity. Try it! It's hilarious! It seems as though everybody has beef with Mr. Nutter.

Recently Michael Nutter called the police on me because I tied my (well behaved) dog to the lightpost outside of his shop while I bought a cup of coffee at B&B nextdoor. Apparently, it is illegal to leave animals unattended in public. I'm sure. I'm sure that warrants a 9-11 call and an emergency dispatcher's time, and a bunch of tax money. Wow.

I just wanted to thank everybody who donated money to the three former Bread and Roses Women's Guesthouse residents who were able to move into their new home for Christmas because of a fast acting and caring community that helped them pay their deposit. Thank you all so very much, It is things like this that make me really happy to be part of Olympia, and also make me recognize just how resourceful and powerful we are as caring members of such a community. Thanks again!

Three longtime residents of the Bread and Roses Women's Guesthouse have finally found a place to live, and have been approved to move in this weekend. However, at this time they are unable to pay the entirety of their deposit and are in desperate need of a financial contribution from a caring person/ persons/charity/church/organization/ what-have-you. They need $450 total, and if we can get people in the community to contribute half of it, Bread and Roses can match it and they can have a wonderful home to move into for Christmas.

These women are outstanding people, and have overcome adversity, challenged the stronghold of poverty and chronic homelessness, and worked tirelessly to contribute back to our community. They are on the brink of beginning a new life, and are more than deserving of the opportunities that we often take for granted, such as a place to live.

Their deposit needs to be in place by tomorrow, and as a community I think we owe these women a chance at a new life. All they are asking for is $225, which is not very much at all. I have called everywhere for assistance, and all of the organizations are completely tapped out until January, which will be far too late for these three. Please consider helping them, they REALLY need it!

If you would like to help out, please call Cassie at the Bread and Roses Advocacy Center at 754-4588. I will be here until 4:30, and can be reached on my cellphone any time after that at 870-5996.

Time is of the essence, so if you want to act, please do so today! Thank you so much!

In Love,
Cassie
