movie posterIgnorant Movie Review:  Little Miss Sunshine

Response to title:  This just has to be sarcastic.  I can’t see any way around reading sarcasm into this title.  I’m expecting biting social commentary.

Response to curbside poster:  I like the yellow VW bus.  The peace loving 60’s connotation is almost immediate, and the family(?) chasing after its open side door is a nice visual allusion to the idea of chasing after peace and sunshine.

Response post-credits:  Wow, I love this movie.  There’s something about seeing a giant canvas Nietzsche mural on a teenager’s wall within the first five minutes of a film that settles me in for Quality entertainment.  The movie is definitely a comedy, and it definitely provides biting social commentary (think Ramsey).  I don’t personally know anyone to whom I would refrain recommending this movie.  I think everyone in Olympia who has the time and financial resources to go to the Capitol Theater over the next couple of nights should go see this movie.

Hmmm

If it made Jade cry I don't think I could handle it. I'll stick to cartoons.

crying

My baby cries when she laughs hard enough, too.

I cried

I laughed so hard I cried, several times. I also cried during that one scene, you know, that one. I also delighted in the variety of laughter that rippled through the audience. During that other scene (you know the one) when they did that thing, so many of us laughed our way through several emotional states, including you know what.

I'm too much of a sap, I

I'm too much of a sap, I don't like movies that are sad enough to make someone cry, because usually I'm in there somewhere and doing the whole, "Must be my allergies" bit or "Gosh it's dry in here".

Its not actually a

Its not actually a depressing film at all. Its just so funny, and so life-affirming, and touching that its cry-worthy.

I don't know. Maybe its only the freaks that cry in a movie like that. You might be safe, Norm.;) Jade

Jade is right

Movie isn't depressing at all. Very funny and touching. And you'll leave smiling and possibly dancing.
