Response to title: Maybe this will help me. Response to curbside poster: Well, now that’s surreal. Response post-credits: What a visual smorgasbord! An interesting and, I think, apropos side note regarding this movie, the French word for "Director", réalisateur, literally means one who realizes ideas. Seemingly casting himself as torch bearer of a 21st century surrealism, Michel Gondry (le réalisateur) creates life as a series of breaks between dreams in The Science of Sleep. Through a landscape of temporal distortion, dialogic miscommunication between three languages, movies within a movie and familiar human themes (love, death, work, sex, lies, art, etc.), Gondry strives to see us delivered from Plato’s cave on the back of a chaotically mechanical horse vis-à-vis a protagonist who lives a life of dream and sleeps a dream of life. I think this is an absolutely fantastic film. Rating: 4.800000009 out of 5 Oly Stubbies Film Haiku: Frozen feet awake Can be seen: Olympia Film Society Tuesday, November 28, 6pm

So, too, is this film. See it, see it, see it (then dream it).
