Ignorant Movie Review: VolverResponse to title: ? Response to curbside poster: Wow. Red and lush. Looking at the poster is a near sensory overload. The red is thick, which, following notions of color symbolism, leads me to believe this is a film about passions. Response post-credits: Beautiful. Absolutely stunning. The film is beautifully conceived, acted, directed, shot and rendered. I find myself wanting to talk forever about this film, and to tell nothing about it in advance. Here's my happy medium: pay attention to the use of the color red and its possible meanings (important!), laugh even when it may seem inappropriate, and enjoy watching a master (Pedro Almodóvar) play with the conventions of Suspense (pay special attention to the score and what happens away from the camera lens). My one warning about this film is for anyone who loathes reading subtitles; the film is in Spanish with English subtitles. Go see this movie, it's a masterpiece. Rating: 4.9 out of 5 Oly Stubbies. Film Haiku: Smell the memory "and a pick and a shovel" dusting a graveyard.
