The United Way invites nonprofit organizations and volunteer teams to sign up for Day of Caring 2011, the biggest one-day volunteer event in Thurston County is coming up again soon!

Thurston County nonprofit organizations can receive volunteer help for hands-on projects as part of United Way of Thurston County’s 19th annual Day of Caring on September 23. Day of Caring has a significant impact on the needs of local nonprofits. It also enables volunteers to meet new people, work as a team, and gain new experiences.

United Way coordinates with The Evergreen State College's "Community to Community Action Day" to combine the two events and have an even greater impact on our community. Students from Saint Martin's University also participate in Day of Caring, engaging our local college students in meaningful, hands-on projects.

Thurston County nonprofit organizations that are interested in having a project completed during Day of Caring and individual volunteers and volunteer teams that want to participate on a project should go to www.unitedway-thurston.org and fill out the appropriate application. Day of Caring is generously sponsored by Heritage Bank, O Bee Credit Union, Olympia Federal Savings and Providence St. Peter Hospital. This event also kicks off United Way's annual fundraising campaign.
