Hey, I haven't been down that way in awhile and I'm leaving the country on Wednesday and am a little nervous about never coming back. Anyone up for the broho (or wherever) tonight? I'd hate to go down in a plane and realize that I hadn't said "goodbye" to a whole lot of people that I admire.

Good luck

Good luck on your journey and definitely do not experience unexpected decrease in elevation. :) I myself am not able to make it tonight to the Broho so I want to make sure to get good wishes to you anyway.

I moved your post to the front page to help with the rallying of the Monday OlyBlog Broho folks.

Where are you going, Norm?

You're leaving the country?  What's going on?

Are the Tune Stranglers playing tonight?  Isn't it their monthly Monday tonight?  Hmmm.... maybe I will have to rearrange my schedule...

Thanks for the promotion

Thanks for the promotion Sarah.

I'm not sure if the Stranglers are playing tonight. I just hit this sudden self-mortality thing this weekend and thought about the people I'd miss.

I'm actually going on my first vacation as an adult. For the next 3 weeks I will be in Europe. I actually was going to drop a line to Enpen and ask him what I should not miss while in Paris.

Flying = Scary

Given that you are

Going to Amsterdam?

Given that you are interested in law enforcement, you may not find this to be smart advice, but visit Baba if you want a fresh tasting, soft, spacecake.  They make one of the best in town and have milkshakes as well.  No alcohol, but really, really good coffee.  They also have seating on one of busiest corners in the red-light district.  Great if you like to people watch - it can be a whole lot of fun!

They also have breakfast muffins infused with the tree of life.  Great way to start your morning if you've got nothing serious going on for the day.

Nope

No Amsterdam.

Is it Monday already?

Shoot, I guess I'll be there. It IS, in fact, the Strangler's monthly gig. Also, Norm, I want to tell you about all the horrible things that can happen on airplanes. Especially over the Atlantic. Also-also about how dangerous the Socialist Republic of Europe can be. I'll probably get to the Broho around eight--hope to see many of you there!

Socialism...in Europe....

Socialism...in Europe.... SURELY you jest?

Never.

I wouldn't do that to you.

Hell, why stop at the coffeeshops?

My understanding is that in the Netherlands they have these things known as "Smart Shops" in which you can purchase merchandise that's not available in the Coffeeshops. Why pass up an opportunity to semi-legally see god and get an existential experience that will leave you contemplating the meaning of normal living and where you should place your values---all from the safety of your hotel room.

Smart Shops, that's the ticket. In "The Graduate" the word was "Plastics", in the Netherlands the word(s) are "Smart Shops".

See above post regarding a career in law enforcement. Keep in mind that it's legal to smoke cigarettes and I don't do that. I also tend not to drink often or in great quantities. Call me a boy scout.

Hey, Boy Scout!

Sorry I didn't make it down there -- I just had too much work and other obligations.  But have a wonderful time, and I will see you when you get back!

Oh, and here's my advice on how to enjoy Paris:  Eat lots of pastry and fromage, and WALK everywhere.  That's what I did, and I didn't gain a single pound.  Bon appetit!

Sounds like a plan ;)Thanks
