Well, specifically their damn dog. What are my options here? I got home an hour ago and this thing has been barking, almost, non-stop since then. This is a pretty small apartment building, but I'm two doors down and it's buggin the shit out of me. Thoughts?

To the Dynamic Duo

Don't think it hadn't crossed my mind, if only for a second.

Oh, god, we're next door,

Oh, god, we're next door, and it's not too pleasant, and I'm thinking bad, bad thoughts. I'm trying to think of a nice note to leave on their door or something...

Advice

Bring them some doggy biscuits. then perhaps start a conversation about the dog, what's its name? How old? You noticed it barking... Is there anything they can do to reduce the barking behavior? prozac perhaps!

They actually just moved in

They actually just moved in on Saturday so I'm hoping maybe it's just an adjustment period.  They have been pretty noisy so far though (the neighbors themselves, not just the dog) which is surprising because in two years of living here I haven't heard a peep out of anyone through the walls, even when there were parties. A little noise doesn't really bother me, I can live with a little thumping bass and laughter but the yappy dog might be a problem if it keeps up.  It's weird because there are no windows on the side adjacent to our apartment but that confounded dog sounds like it's right outside our door.

I am going to wait a week and if it's still going on I will talk to them about the dog with some suggestions on how to help dogs with seperation anxiety, heck, I'll even help them find a free crate if it will help (I know some dogs do well with being crated and seperation anxiety).

Yeah, I kept thinking he was

Yeah, I kept thinking he was just by the stairwell there. He must be barking right at the door. If he's not quiet by the time I'm back from vacation ( next wednesday ) I'm gonna call the apartment manager and see what my options are. That's bullshit, if you know your dog is noisy find an alternative when you aren't home. crate, bathroom, mute button, I don't care.

Keep a log

Keep a written log of dates and times, helps often when speaking with apartment management.
