From TheNewsTribune.com:

Crime rose last year in the South Sound cities of Puyallup, Gig Harbor, Sumner, Bonney Lake, Fife, DuPont, Federal Way and Kent and dropped in Lakewood, Ruston, Steilacoom and Olympia.

Tacoma saw a slight decrease in violent crime but an increase in property crimes, while the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department investigated more violent and property crimes.

Car thefts increased in a majority of the 32 law enforcement agencies in the South Sound.

Here's the press release.

What?

Rick, am I confused or did I not know how to read those stats? What I saw was crime rates for Thurston County were as follows: Violent Crimes were: 2004 = 266 and 2005 = 321 up 20.7% rate per 1,000 = 2.5 Property Crimes were 2004 = 3035 and 2005 = 3243 up 6.9% rate per 1,000 25.6 Total crime were 2004 = 3301 2005 = 3564 up 8% rate per 1,000 28.2

They must be broken down...

...into smaller subgroups. Thurston County could have an increase, while Olympia proper could show a decrease.

OK...but

I didn't see that printed in the doc that was attached. Where is that printed?
