Submitted by Phil Owen on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 2:32pm.I take back what I said about Olbert previously... I'll need to watch a little more to come to a sound opinion I think. Nonetheless, his commentaries on Bush and Rumsfeld were incredible.
He had another good
Submitted by The Fire Inside on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 4:19pm.He had another good commentary a while back, but I can't remember the date. It was about the Bush administration, though.
You're right. I think if he left more of his former "SportsCenter" self and ventured into suit-and-tie journalism, he would be well-served.

Olbermann Helped Me Quit Smoking
Submitted by Robert Whitlock on Thu, 09/07/2006 - 8:55pm.When the show was over, his producer (or some manager type - I can't remember exactly) came into the studio and dressed him down in front of the whole crew. He told Olbe that he didn't care if Olbe didn't show up for work the next day etc. He went ballistic on the guy for doing a tribute to Peter Jennings, after Jennings died of smoking related lung disease (cancer I believe.)
That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I emptied my pouch of tobacco into the trash right then and there, lighter and all. I smoked daily for 11 and 1/2 years. Life is better without a smoking habit.
