I have it on good authority that the building that used to house Griswold's Office Supply, and once long ago, the Avalon Theater, may have a new buyer. Alas, we won't see the return of the Avalon, but it would be nice to see that space being used productively.

Alas, it didn't work out

The person making the proposal to buy the building has backed out, it looks to not being  a money maker for him.  Other people are interested in the building so there is still hope.  I'd like to see some retail/residential combination in that space.  I'm not sure if there is enough time to cobble some project together that would provide some market rate and low income housing plus retail for the space, but I can hope that something like that is in the works.

I know that...

...the buyer who was considering the Avalon backed out. Do you mean that the new, latest buyer has also backed out? I just heard this new rumor on Thursday (which I think was not widely known), so I'm a bit surprised to hear that it has already tanked.

That would be a decent

That would be a decent location for a community policing desk, lockers, and showers.  Does the city have any money?

Does the city have any money?

I highly doubt it.

the most recent to back out

is the same person that owns the Rex apartments downtown.  I'm hoping you are hearing something else, I'd like to see something actually happen with Griswolds other than have it torn down and turned into a parking lot.

Agreed.
