This is the second video out of the footage I shot at the Port of Tacoma on Monday, March 12th. If you watched the first video, you know that nothing has been done to provoke the police yet. In this video, you see that the protesters indeed remain peaceful, are surrounded Roman army style by riot police, and are attacked for it.

Hey Rob,
Submitted by OlyCop on Thu, 03/15/2007 - 2:57pm.thanks for posting the vid. It doesn't show enough to develop an opinion if the force used was reasonable. Sound quality was good, but a lot could have been going on that prompted the response you got.
Also, you all must remember, other police agencies are much less likely to coddle protestors in the manner Olympia P.D. does.
It sounded like you got a bit of gas during the vid. It's not much fun to get exposed to, I've had my share in my face over the years. But gas is more friendly than other forms of force.
Hope you didn't sustain any injuries.

OC,
Submitted by Rob Richards on Thu, 03/15/2007 - 4:16pm.I was, and still am to a degree, pretty sore from getting pelted with cannisters, and a couple of concussion grenades went off pretty close to me through the course of events, but I walked away without any serious injuries. One of the grenades went off underneath a propane tank that I was 20 feet or so away from. You probably noticed a cut in the tape from the beginning to where I was back a little ways. I had turn the camera off and get out cause I was in a huge cloud of gas and was choking and realized that I was a lot closer to the police line than I wanted to be. They didn't seem to use much pepper spray, mostly just cannisters and bullet shaped projectiles with the powder in them.
It seemed like I was getting a lot of stuff shot at me throughout, it could have been because I stayed closer to the police line than most, but I have hunch that I was getting hit a lot because I had a video camera. Any thoughts on that?
No Rob
