Although not graphic, far more terrifying than the pictures that you linked in your last thread. It's not always the content, but the way it is delivered. Good post Rob.

Delivery

I so agree Norm. Choice of delivery and creativity can be so powerful.

Thanks Rob.

Who ever organized this has my thanks

Rarely have I seen such a beautifully profound celebration of life and humanity.  The way tiny shoes can put faces and lives to the war dead is just brilliant.  What is also profound is to think about the many pairs of tiny shoe that would have to be added to this display to reflect the ongoing carnage.  Is there no end to this inhumanity?  Do the people that support this war have no hearts whatsoever?  If nothing else, will people think of what the brothers and sisters of these children will do in response to this inhumanity.  Say September 11th all you want, we are better than this.

If nothing else, will people

If nothing else, will people think of what the brothers and sisters of these children will do in response to this inhumanity.

It will depend on how Iraq turns out in the long-run. The brothers and sisters of Dresden, Tokyo, and Berlin didn't come back to destroy the United States for a reason.

Just a question, not an answer

Does anyone see why the Iraquis of today would respond differently to the United States than the Germans and Japanese of WWII?

I don't hate babies. I'm

I don't hate babies. I'm just not swayed by how armed conflict should be carried out because of deaths to women and children (the casualty categories used to discredit certain conflicts and military strategies).

Again,I can't stress this enough: This. Is. Why. You. Only. Engage. In. Defensive. Conflicts.

So with Iraq we need to decide one of two routes: Remove all US forces from Iraq or carry out the conflict in a manner which is consistant with American military doctrine used during conflicts we won.

When we would see a story of

When we would see a story of child abuse on the news or whatnot, my Meema would always say "how could you hurt someone who wears such little shoes?"

What sad images.  Poor babies.

Participation

I didn't participate in this memorial because I support McGavick. I don't think that McGavick deserves your vote. Cantwell may be the lesser of two evils. But she has done very little to confront the Bush administration's war efforts. She has neglected opportunities to challenge Misters Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al. in regard to the war. She has passed up opportunities to advocate for accountability for those who designed the war and (mis)led the nation into it.

Those are my reasons for posting these pictures. That said, I hope McGavick doesn't win. But I am also totally sick of the two party duopoly. I voted for a third party candidate, who doesn't have a chance of winning (success would be attaining 5% of the vote). But I feel that this candidate was truly the best option in the Senate race. Even though this candidate is on the ballot, he was disallowed from participating in the regional debates, and gaining the media attention that would enable him to compete.

I voted for Aaron Dixon.

Reasons

After posting the above, I thought about things a bit more, and I realized that the real reason I posted those pictures is because I care about what is going on in Iraq. The fact that Senator Cantwell was chosen to recieve the focus of a direct action campaign is simple enough - she hasn't fulfilled her obligation to her constituency (the people of WA state) by demanding accountability for those who've committed wrongs by misleading the nation to an illegal war... In short, she hasn't opposed the war in any significant manner.

That said, I hope she doesn't lose to McGavick (even though I voted for Dixon.) Don't hold back though. Vote your conscience. Iraq is the most important issue here, and I am willing to estimate that the difference between McGavick and Cantwell, once either one is in office, will be marginal, at best. So go ahead, vote Dixon with pride and authority!

I couldn't do it. I could

I couldn't do it. I could not bring myself to vote for a former black panther. I have a better history and understanding of the organization but I still don't agree with it.
