I believe in coffee and pie. No matter what storms bluster and howl outside, the two cosmic circles will always prevail. Think about it. You have a cup of coffee made of circles, stare down at your cup and watch the swirls of java do their swirly mysterious steamy best to distract and relax you. Warmth in a cup. When you are ready, most likely after drinking some of the dark brew, turn your attention to the plate, which is most likely a circular plate. A wedge of pie is part of the whole, a piece of pie, a slice of circle.

How utterly mind blowing is that? And we are not talking anything difficult to acquire here, but sometimes challenging enough to add that extra thrill of achievement. From diner pie under fluorescent lights to a whole homemade pie lit by lantern light cooling on your kitchen counter, it is all about circles and comfort and outright yumminess.

Coffee & Pie are the dynamic duo of goodness, combined they have the power to take a so-so situation and make it fun.

And if anyone dares try to harsh your buzz (gawd forbid you give yourself a bad time, no self-guilt trips allowed) consider punishing them by babbling about mystery circles. Make stuff up, claim you must go forth and........you will surely be left alone to enjoy your coffee and pie.

Or you can invite others in, pour cups of coffee and slice that pie, while the circle of simple pleasure expands. Hospitality is a circle. Share.

World peace? Sure thing. Just sit everyone down in a circle and serve them Coffee and Pie.

Pie is far superior to cake..

Pie is far superior to cake..

Oh yes,

Pie is much better than cake.

Amen to that Brother!

I might have to see if I can make up a peanut-butter pie and bring it to the broho after Xmas.

My future in-laws are mainly

My future in-laws are mainly Conservative. The idea of Evergreen and Democrats are a joke with them. Yet I've never had a personal problem with any of them (except for one who's no longer related by marriage.) What I have had with them is lots of coffee and lots of pie.

I think we're on to something here. Should we invite the City Council to B&B and bake them a pie?

I like

I like this idea, would baking several types of pie expand their minds further or just confuse them? Pumpkin, apple, peach, cherry, chocolate, and Norm's peanut butter pie might be a grand selection.

Am I getting too carried away if I imagine holding forth on the metaphor of many types of tasty pie equaling many...err........types of people? Different pie for different folks? Everyone gets a slice of what they want, it all tastes good, there is abundant pie, no scarcity, and lots of coffee, plus all those circles.

Heck, probably simply enjoying pie and coffee together would cheer us all up and help the cooperative we-can-make-this-work part of our brains kick into gear again.

I'll make Cranberry. Or

I'll make Cranberry. Or Cranberry-Blueberry. Or Cranberry-Raspberry. Or...you get the picture (but probably no Choco-Cran)

Hmm...do you think putting cranberries in pumpkin would work?

Somebody needs to help me with the crust, since I suck at that. I'm thinking something ginger-graham flavored.

But wherefore thou alone? Wherefore with thee Came not all hell broke loose?

Yum

I wouldn't complain about eating any of those cranberry pies.

Visually I love the idea of cranberries in pumpkin, but I can't really wrap my mind around the taste. I think it would be so confusing we'd end up passing out.

You and Norm could make the pies and I'll volunteer to taste test.

Lemon Pie

Lemon Pie
»

Swoon

With meringue or not?
»

Not..

I would prefer some sort of crumble on top of the lemon filling..
»

Yeah

I approve. I volunteer to taste test this too. I might need several slices to really make an accurate determination.

The topic of pie regularly comes up on OlyBlog, maybe eventually we can have an actual OlyBlog Festival of Pie. You'll notice that I'm quite willing to write about pie and taste test pie and eat pie but I wouldn't actually make the pies. I could also slice pie and serve pie and wash up the aftermath.
