SEATTLE -- A former neo-Nazi told a jury Monday that he sold machine guns to a federal informant because he knew he'd be arrested and that his trial would provide a forum for challenging gun control laws - a claim that drew quiet chuckles from prosecutors.
Story

I seem to be on a roll today with this theme, suddenly it is most everywhere I look. I turned on the radio and KUOW had this story. KIRO has most recent update that I can find online. Story of the arrest of Keith Gilbert back in Feb. 2005 can be found through the Seattle P.I.

A gun rights organization, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has issued a statement including:
"For Gilbert to claim some kind of martyr status in this case is simply ludicrous," said CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron. "His argument that he somehow engineered his arrest so that he could use his criminal trial as a forum to challenge gun control laws is not going to gain any traction at all with genuine firearms rights activists."

ugh, I hate this connection.

ugh, I hate this connection. FYI most of we firearm owners are not nazi's and do not sympathize with them.

Good point

Good point Norm, thanks. I needed a brief title and it backfired. (I'm practicing my punmanship.)

I agree though. So maybe my themes are better expressed as illegal guns and criminals lacking in intelligence who at some point have identified as Nazis.

Not only do I believe that many firearm owners are responsible people and also are not Nazis, my guess is that many (some?) Nazi gun owners are responsible when it comes to their firearms.

Possibly, and I'm certainly

Possibly, and I'm certainly not pointing fingers at you. I just find it sad that something I use as a past time, is so abused within my country, and worldwide. Growing up I bonded with my family through hunting and target shooting ( to this day my grandmother can outshoot me ) and so many people just make firearms a perverse thing. It just depresses me at all.

Guns

Yeah, I don't quite "get" guns, if that makes sense, but I am willing to keep learning about them and their use. And I don't believe that guns automatically = bad.

Do you go to gun shows at all? I haven't gone to any in years and I have friendly questions for anyone who has been to one recently.

The pun possibilities for discussions on guns is incredible, for instance anyone willing to talk guns can indicate they are with a "Fire away".

Nazism aside, should the

Nazism aside, should the government be allowed to heavily regulate the sale of a product between two private parties?

Also, I (as I am sure Norm, too) know a lot of people who would be going to jail for a wide-variety of firearms offenses, ranging from the unregistered to the illegal to possess.

Are they whacked out survivalists? Nope. Many are the suit-and-tie variety who share the same view that history has demonstrated time and again that there is the very real possibility Government or the Masses could turn on you.

It's best to be prepared in case such a situation should show itself.

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people."

You mean products like sarin gas, radioactive material, government documents, children, smallpox, fertilizer, masterbation [sic] jokes, etc.?
