Team Missing

Team Missing's goal is to use the internet and social media to help find missing children. We also facilitate community outreach so that as-risk kids learn about available resources designed to help them in times of crisis.

This site began as a way to help find Maddy Harris, she is now home safe, and the mission has expanded.

Social Media & Vancouver Riots

How fast our world has changed.

Last night I didn't have to tune into CNN to follow their reporting of riots in Vancouver B.C, Canada. Instead I watched the Twitter hashtags #vancouverriot #canucksriot. I watched the live video stream from CTV. I checked out photos and discussions and watched FaceBook pages go up quickly. There are now FB pages up to organize post riot cleanup. A FB page up to contribute photos of looters. The Vancouver Police Department even has an active Twitter page and will be posting info soon on where to send photos and descriptions from the riots.

Rumors flew, as expected. People shared helpful information too as to the condition of transit and what areas to avoid.

This is all more testament to how quickly people can record and share information now.

News from the real Washington (The Great Weasel Caper)

Yes, the county I live in is now being discussed nationally. stevenl claims "I-5 is the Roman Road and Grays Harbor County a surviving remnant of the REAL Washington."

The victim asked, "Why are you carrying a weasel?" Police said the attacker answered, "It's not a weasel, it's a marten," then punched him in the nose and fled.

Beyond Dead Weasels, a New Hoquiam Emerges From the Trees

Thurston county can't possibly compete with this.

Welcome Home Maddy Harris

On June 9, 2011, Maddy Harris, who went missing over a month earlier, was found. She is now safe with her family. While we set up this community site to help find Maddy, it has opened the eyes of many people to the epidemic of teenage runaways and missing children. This lesson will not go unheeded. Please stay tuned to this website. We intend to use this lesson as a catalyst for a much broader movement to help teens in crisis, missing children, and the communities effected. Best Wishes, and THANK YOU for your support! "Team M"

Business development at Harrison and Division?

A letter to the City Council from West Side businesses concerning the proposed 7-Eleven at Harrison and Division.

Dear Mayor and City Council,

We are local business owners in the vicinity of the intersection of Harrison and Division. We are writing to express our opposition to the proposal by the MAJ Development Corporation to construct a 7-Eleven retail outlet and an additional, yet undefined, Phase II on the SE corner of this intersection. This intersection is already overloaded and dangerous to pedestrians, drivers and transit riders to our businesses. It also poses significant dangers to students walking to Jefferson Middle School, driving to and from Capital High School and trying to reach the 41 bus stop on Harrison on their way to Evergreen.
