Global warming. Olympia is

Global warming. Olympia is at sea-level. If the whole thing turns out to be a bunch of hooey, like Y2K, fine. But if not (and the case looks pretty good to me that this is all very real), and if downtown starts seeing caimans swimming down 4th Ave., everyone is going to start wondering why our political leaders were sleeping through the whole thing. Bill Greenwood, the eccentric who built an ark on West Bay Drive in the 1930s, might have been ahead of his time.

Lots of blood has been coming out of my mouth. And my penis is too small. And I want to burn down Anthony's Homeport.
Do you think you can make this a better Olympia?

Transportation & Traffic

Maybe I should run for position 3 instead, as I have a few ideas regarding IT and parking issues downtown. Also, I'd like to find ways to revitalize the local economy, and bring businesses back to Olympia. (Notice how Capitol City Press has moved to Tumwater?)

Gay liberal hippies will always be part of Olympia, and as long as there is a port, chances are the Navy will use it. Global warming is a concern for us all.

Perhaps if Intercity Transit got revamped with better routes and more people-friendly schedules, we could get some of the cars off the roads, that would help hedge off global warming.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what I can come up with.

Cheers!

#2 downtown should not be there--

Hiya All--

Does ANYONE like the Oly "downtown"?
--This little micro-burg we call home is certainly not "city" class, more like a town--

I feel the downtown is lame, primarily because it is built on a landfill, and occupies space that would enrich the community if it was a healthy, open, and non-developed--

With smart growth, Oly could still rock, get a nice skyway going between westside-capital campus-eastside...lines out to tumwater shopping, St. Martins & TESC, and train station--

I live above the flood plain, and encourage others to do so as well--

Just cuz they have places to live downtown doesn't mean people should live their--

The real issue is the lack of affordable housing, temp housing, and multi-fam/mixed use zoning--

I really think the planning department in Oly needs to be more open to green design.

housing, housing, housing

You got it. It's really that simple. Build enough housing and everyone will be housed. That means that the real estate industry will die but oh well. I'm willing to sacrifice that if housing was in reach for everyone. Either that, or give the people land that they can build on for themselves and then sit back and watch a community develop.

“One man scorned and covered with scars still strove with his last ounce of courage to reach the unreachable stars; and the world was better for this.

Wouldn't have to be a big house, would it?

Maybe it could roll?
