guineapigsSo 'way back in Olympia's pre-college town days I dimly recall either seeing this or hearing about a pawn shop downtown that had as a display window attraction the "Dancing Guinea Pigs." This consisted of sending out two guinea pigs at appointed times into a public cage with hot plates on the floor of the enclosure, causing the little creatures to "dance." Local animal cruelty preventers stepped in and stopped this form of entertainment. Can anyone out there enhance this story with additional facts?

the more thing change...

It seems to me that our own council member, Jeff Kingsbury, is apparently reviving this act.  Instead of cavies, the homeless will be dancing in the rain, far from the sheltering awnings.

"I would make it impossible for the covetous and avaricious to utterly impoverish the poor. The rich can take care of themselves."
