So which one would you rather live in: Weirdsville, or, Funkytown?

»

Definitely weirdsville!

Definitely weirdsville!
»

No way!

Absolutely Funkytown!

When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion. -C.P. Snow

Weirdsville. I can't believe

Weirdsville. I can't believe anyone who has ever heard the song "funkytown" can want to live there. makes me shiver.

For Norm

Funkytown lyrics

Halloween is approaching, shivering is quite appropriate.

It's less the lyrics, and

It's less the lyrics, and more the "sound" of the song. If ever there is a song that makes me question what's beyond the grave, it's that song. Yuck

Funkytown! Take me there!

Wont you take me to: Funkytown!

Prediction

I predict that I'd end up in Funkytown, fully believing that it is Weirdsville. I would do my best to convince Funkytown residents that they actually live in Weirdsville, my efforts would be mostly futile, and I'd learn to both dance and enjoy the weird wherever I am. Which is Weirdsville.

Are you suggesting that

Are you suggesting that Weirdsville is actually a place inside your head?
»

Maybe

I hadn't really thought of that, good insight there, maybe Weirdsville is a place inside my head, and I'm so immersed in it, I don't know any other reality.

I'm mostly concerned with

I'm mostly concerned with how Norm and I are going to fit inside your head.

Uh oh

We best ask the original inquisitor. I think Weirdsville is a creation of all the residents, so if you live there, there you are.

I've been trying to lose a little weight, but this is asking too much.

It just doesn't have the same ring to it. But, as I mentioned elsewhere in OlyBlog, we don't get to pick the town we live in, it picks us. The best we can do is learn to live with it. Personally, Weirdsville and Funkytown seem to have me in a tug-of-war this year.

The gentrification of Funkytown

It is sad to see Funkytown today, or as it presently known, Whispering Pines of Funkytown Village Estates.  Sadly it is not the Funkytown of yesterday.  I don't know what is more depressing, the golf carts creeping along the roads or the piped in Lawrence Welk replays over the p.a. system.  All is safe now, but funky it ain't.

I used to rock 'n roll all night and party everyday. Then it was every other day. Now I'm lucky if I can find half an hour a week in which to get funky.

How to know you are in Weirdsville

One time tested method is to pause and say out loud "That's weird......." and then there you are.
»

Wow, that's funky!

Wow, that's funky!

It Might Be Time

to revisit this question.

I hate to be all

I hate to be all conservative, right-wing unchangeable, but I am sticking with my original answer.
