The rain is back. Start making plans on how to cope and don't wind up looking like this poor fellow. Me, I plan to draw more comix. What about you guys?

Drawing comics in the rain

I suspect that would make the ink run, and what you have is no longer a comic but a the wash of a dream, maybe recognizable as what you started out with, but certainly changed forever by the rain.  I see the rain as a great agent of change.  Much has been said about the nature of the rain, vis a vis "it rains on the just and the unjust alike" or as Bob Dylan said ""it's a hard rain's  a-gonna fall".  Me, I welcome the rain and the change it brings.  I welcome the opportunity to be a rainy day person, or as Gordon Lightfoot said:

Rainy day people always seem to know when its time to call
Rainy day people dont talk, they just listen till theyve heard it all
Rainy day lovers dont lie when they tell ya theyve been down like you
Rainy day people dont mind if youre cryin a tear or two
If you get lonely, all you really need is that rainy day love
Rainy day people all know theres no sorrow they cant rise above
Rainy day lovers dont love any others, that would not be kind
Rainy day people all know how it hangs on a piece of mind

"I would make it impossible for the covetous and avaricious to utterly impoverish the poor. The rich can take care of themselves."

Melting in the dark

I did draw a series of comix (later issues of Retreads, currently at the Danger Room) where I wrote the title in felt tip, soaked it in water for a minute, microwaved it dry, and then enlarged it on a photocopier. Maybe I should draw a whole comic in the rain. I like the effect. retreads

Rain songs

Crenshaw writes "I see the rain as a great agent of change.". Yeah. That view fits perfectly the rain song in my mind now, The Who's Love, Reign O'er Me.

Pete Townshend about the song:

[It] refers to Meher Baba's one time comment that rain was a blessing from God; that thunder was God's Voice. It's another plea to drown, only this time in the rain. Jimmy goes through a suicide crisis. He surrenders to the inevitable, and you know, you know, when it's over and he goes back to town he'll be going through the same shit, being in the same terrible family situation and so on, but he's moved up a level. He's weak still, but there's a strength in that weakness. He's in danger of maturing.

Some lyrics:
The nights are hot and black as ink
I can't sleep and I lay and I think
Oh god, I need a drink of cool cool rain.

Rain

I look forward to this time of year.  Time to fire up the oven for braised meats and gravies, all sorts of roasted things and sweet and savory baked goods.
»

Yum

Your kitchen sounds like a wonderful place to visit.

I love the rain. I love to

I love the rain. I love to sit under trees and let clouds get me wet. You aren't a real Olympian unless you love the rain, and that's a fact.

Rainy Day...

Hey man, take a look out the window 'n' see what's
happenin'

Hey man, it's rainin'

It's rainin' outside man

Aw, don't worry 'bout that

Everything's gonna be everything

We'll get into somethin' real nice you know

Sit back and groove on a rainy day

Yeah

Yeah I see what you mean brother, lay back and groove.

Rainy day, dream away

Ah let the sun take a holiday

Flowers bathe an' ah see the children play

Lay back and groove on a rainy day.

Well I can see a bunch of wet creatures, look at them on the
run

The carnival traffic noise it sings the tune splashing up
'n'

Even the ducks can groove rain bathin' in the park side
pool

And I'm leanin' out my window sill diggin' ev'rything

And ah and you too.

Rainy day, rain all day

Ain't no use in gettin' uptight

Just let it groove its own way

Let it drain your worries away yeah

Lay back and groove on a rainy day hey

Lay back and dream on a rainy day

Lyrics:

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads.
They might as well be dead,
If the rain comes, if the rain comes.

When the sun shines they slip into the shade,
And sip their lemonade,
When the sun shines, when the sun shines.

Ra-ain, I don't mind,
Shi-ine, the weather's fine.

I can show you that when it starts to rain,
(when the rain comes down)
Everything's the same,
(when the rain comes down)
I can show you, I can show you.

Ra-ain, I don't mind,
Shi-ine, the weather's fine.

Can you hear me that when it rains and shines,
(when it rains and shines)
It's just a state of mind,
(when it rains and shines)
Can you hear me, can you hear me

(BACKWARDS:)
If the rain comes they run and hide their heads
(BACWARDS DURING FADEOUT:)
When the sun shines - rai-ain.
