I'm about finished enlisting. I have a physical and oral interview (for a certain level of security clearance) on Tuesday.

I'm scheduled to leave later this month for Fort Jackson, South Carolina where I'll be in Basic Training for 10 weeks and then head to Fort Huachuca, Arizona for Advanced Individual Training (which will last another 17 weeks).

Hopefully I'm able to post on here once in a while between now and then, but if I don't that is the reason why I will be missing from the board for an extended period of time.

Time to put principle into practice.

You go my friend

I appreciate what you are doing for all of us. At some point after your training, you likely will be putting your life on the line for all of us. Hopefully you can do your stint or perhaps you will make a career out of it, but I hope you can avoid serious injury or worse. I will add you to my prayer list.

The military is a great experiance. And it will teach you so much, and in most cases it will be for the best. You are going in for all the right reasons, not like some who volunteer. And you are a smart guy, so you likely will do very well.

Good luck to you!! "Kick ass and take names"!!!!

Best wishes

Stay safe, as safe as you can out there. I hope you are able to occasionally update us on the new world you are venturing into.

Have fun! Be safe and all

Have fun! Be safe and all that stuff, but remember to have fun with it. Life is serious enough as it is, learn to laugh at the drill sgt's....behind their back of course...unless you want a really strong chest.

TFI, you'll be in our

TFI, you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. I hope to see you when you return safe and in one piece. You're a good guy and you walk your talk, and not many people can have that said about them. If I was your age, there is no way in Hell I'd do what you are doing, but that is the beauty of OlyBlog's ability to agree to disagree. You have been this blog's most articulate spokesperson for conservative points of view since the early days, and I have already missed your frequent contributions. Stay in touch and Godspeed, our friend.

Good luck.  Be careful.

Good luck.  Be careful.  Try not to hurt anyone if you can avoid it.

You're on my list too TFI

I wish you ALL the best in what you're doing. It takes a great deal of courage to stand up for what you believe in. Sometimes its best to RUN too. Had me a good little run last night. A freaking truck pulled out of a side street and hit me! I sort of bounced off the bumper with my left hand and kept on truckin' myself! I couldn't see in the greyed out windows and that truck was HUGE, like something out of one of my nightmares. So I decided to practise my running skills instead of my kicking or writing down license plate skills and get to help. I think our Washington State Patrol in Tumwater is about to be increased. Showed the restaurant owner my bruised hand and told them to complain. I don't like being attacked by trucks. Its extremely rude. Pedestrians have the right of way at cross walks, not big trucks.
