I drove past Ralph's Thriftway this morning and saw a new message on their sign.  I don't remember the exact verbiage, but it was along the lines of "Accepting pharmacist applications. Top salary".

I wonder if the pharmacist praised within these blogs has moved on... and if so, whether it was voluntary or not?  I'd hate for him to have been forced out because of his moral stand.

That has

actually been on my mind since he was quoted here.

Is this a usual method for hiring a pharmacist?

Putting a notice up on a sign that's usually used for advertising deals on sirloin and soda seems just a little peculiar to me.
»

It's pretty clear to me...

...that this is his way of signaling to people that he, in some way, "got rid of" the rabble-rousing pharmacist he had working for him. To the boycotters this says: "You'll never get your plan B", and, to his base it says: "keep fighting, we're winning". Perhaps it's time for some more direct action to show Kevin Stormans that he's got a long way to go, and that we won't go away.

confirmation?

Are you confirming that that particular pharmacist is gone?  If so, do you know any details about his departure?
»

Not absolutely

I don't have any information that would prove it. It seems to me that the only reason they would have this posted on their sign would be to make a show of the fact that they need a new pharmacist. This is a charged issue, and reason tells me that this was a "political" move on the part of the ownership. I wonder how many out of work pharmacists' drive past Ralph's everyday? Of course I don't know the answer to that, but my speculation is that there are not many, or not enough to warrant taking up their entire letterbox. The "Thanks for the support" part really drives it home for me.

They post job listings on

They post job listings on that sign a lot, but usually there's a lot more advertised on the sign so it's less noticeable.  Now it's only "Thanks for your support!" and the hiring pharmacists part.
»

I concluded the job

I concluded the job advertisement to be an example of the smug absolutist tendencies of fundamentalism of the christian/capitalist crowd of which storman is a proud and powerful member in Olympia.

let's all go & apply!

i want to be a pharmacist!

LOL!!

That rocks! I can just see a line of people in there:

"May I help you?"

"I'd like an application please."

...and so on about 35 times.

Of course, the best part would be turning them in immediately following a picket. Nevermind that fact that none of us, as far as I am aware, qualify and they do not take apps in the store. They make you take them to the business office behind the store so no customers would get to see it. Unless we waited in line, and announced that we wanted to turn in an application ("HI! I'd like to turn in my application for the pharmacist position!"). Just the symbology of all these Pro Plan-B people turning in applications would be funny. Just to be a pain in the ass...

Sure it's warped. That's why it sounds fun!

Ya know

the other possibility we are all over-looking here, is that the pharmacist may have given his 2 week notice because he was tired of being inside storman's politics and letting them represent him.
»

You're absolutely right.

I didn't really overlook it, but didn't mention it before. Even if that is the case, Mr. Stormans may have considered the pharmacist's quitting a victory, and wanted to advertise it. Mostly, this is all speculation and we simply don't know. It's important to keep in mind what you don't know. It's also important, from an organizers standpoint, to think of every possible scenario.
