How can you get involved in the protests around the use of Olympia's port to prolong the illegal war in Iraq? Let's be clear. This shipment is not going to soldiers already in Iraq. This is a shipment of stryker vehicles and weapons for the 3rd stryker brigade that is soon to be deployed. This shipment is a shipment of death to innocent Iraqis. We have to stop being complicit in allowing our community's facilities to support the occupation of Iraq!

There will be a vigil at the corner of State and Plum from 4pm to 6pm every day until the ship arrives and leaves. This will be the starting point for vigils at the port when the ship does arrive. Join us.

I hope you get firehosed.

I hope you get firehosed.  I'd like to see that.  Or pepper sprayed....that would be fun to watch also.

Then what?

Maybe we should round 'em all up and, and, put them in camps! Yeah! Then, then we could force 'em to do hard labor with no food until they drop! Yeah! That'll teach 'em to use their 1st Amendment Rights! I know -- then we could kill 'em! They're not really human beings! Yeah, gas 'em all! And burn 'em in ovens! That'll teach 'em how free this country is!

Let's just admit it straight up

I think that we could all save a lot of time and trouble, name calling and recriminations, by simply stipulating to one fact.  The fact being that "Support our Troops" is really just code for "Support George Bush".    Let us not drag the exploited military people into this argument, they are not relevent to the argument of supporting Bush.  People really hate these protests because they view them as an attack on George Bush. That is what raises their hackles and causes them to make absurd comments like our soldiers are fighting in Iraq for your right to protest.  Surely they would not make such absurd comments if they were merely defending the defenders of our rights to speech, dissent, and protest. Admit it, "support our troops" is just code for "Support Bush".
