Video from the Port Of Tacoma from this morning.

This morning Rob Richards received word from the press that the police are mobilizing 40 armed bullies to come down and end Last night at the city counsel meeting the city acknowledged the failure of the county and regional programs to help poor people find homes and jobs, as well as the failure of housing vouchers that are supposed to help people rent but are not accepted anywhere. Folks on the counsel (with the exception of TJ) stated that since they had not heard about the tent city, that because no one had approached them about it, and because it was clearly in violation of the law, Camp Quixote would be put to an end. But where are the greater violations happening? Why do people not have a place to stay in the first place? Why does the United States not view housing as a human right? And why would the city counsel sooner wash its hands of responsibility than support actions to create safer and healthier places for people in need of a bed to stay?

This Saturday and Sunday I spent significant part of my weekend recording the Citizens' hearing on the legality of U.S. actions in Iraq at Evergreen's Tacoma campus. Today, I spent a significant part of my day editing these audio files... and I am still not done! Regardless, the audio from the second day is posted now. In the near future I will post the first day as well which includes retired Colonel Ann Wright and Daniel Ellsberg who released the Pentagon Papers.
» I highly suggest listening to Dennis Kyne and the Iraq Veterans Against the War. Antonia Juhasz is very good as well. Click Here for the audio on www.radio4all.net!

![]() Recently released documents reveal the Department of Homeland Security has a computer system to determine travels what kind of a "risk" you are. If you have flown internationally with in the last four years, you have most likely a rating next your name in the database. The DHS calls it "one of the most advanced targeting systems in the world." The systems purpose is to assess if a person is a 'criminal' or 'terrorist' and poses a threat to the public. (check out the NYTimes article here) This information may not come as a surprise to many, but should serve to affirm any suspicions folks have had. To echo what Geov Parrish from Eat The State! said, maybe should start a rating system to determine the threat that public officials and police officers pose. What would this system look like? How would people like the president rate? What about folks from corporations, like the CEO of Weyerhaeuser? What about the Mayor and others in local government?
