Though I do not own one, I am not opposed to people having firearms. The second ammendment, just like the others, is going to be here as long as the US government is, and as far as I understand it is under no threat of disapearing short of a revolution. A recently leaked upcoming publication that is believed to be from the National Rifle Association (thier name is all over it, it has detailed information on the NRA's current leadership, it is in defense of guns) works to tap in to fears of the government taking guns away. Not only that, but it taps in to all the fears that the NRA seems to believe all god fearing good (white) Americans should have.

If anyone is a member of the NRA what do you make of this (and no, you won't be held accountable for this!)? As well, if you have a moment to geek out, check out some of the comments that are hidden behind the pictures using the select tool in Adobe Viewer. |

Hmmm

This isn't exactly new, nothing mentioned in there hasn't been mentioned by them before. If you are in the NRA you know just exactly how hard they campaign and how vigilant(paranoid) they really are.
Unfortunately, the NRA is the biggest and best game in town for protecting the 2nd amendment or just making sure that citizens aren't too infringed when it comes to firearm ownership. There's The Gun Owners of America , The Second Amendment Foundation, and a few other outfits, but they are really small, have little, if any, political pull, and are a little nuttier than the NRA in my opinion. The NRA is still the best game in town.
So which part of the pdf file did you find to be so bad? I flipped through it really fast and it looks like the same stuff that they pack into the magazine I mentioned above. None of what is in there is new to me. Most of it is the typical NRA drama, quite a bit of it could be true, although blown out of proportion. I get that magazine every month in the mail, I flip through it and deposit it into the trash within a day or two (most other gun magazines get filed away, I'm a packrat) because most of the information in there isn't technical, and that's what I enjoy reading.
What it is trying to do is keep with the snowball that was rolling downhill after sep 11th. There are quite a few members in the NRA, and the more drama they can produce, the more willing that members are to cough up money, and try to recruit new members.
So that's my $.02, I'm really interested in what exactly bothers you about the pdf though. Is it the context? The way it comes across? The actual text?
Oh, and I'm not sure about
